I've recently decided I wanted to become a skin therapist and looking at your videos as a black girl makes me feel so motivated! You are truly one of my fav estheticians on youtube. And I feel like if I continue to be this motivated maybe one day i'll be one of the very few black skin therapists on youtube in my country (Netherlands). Whenever I think I can't do it or I'm too old to study (i'm 21) I just watch your videos and my energy gets pumped up again. Really bless you and your channel! I wish nothing but greatness for you :')
@tajmahaly71294 жыл бұрын
Oh Sheralyn! This makes my heart so full! Don't ever think you are too old reinvent, re-educate or evolve. I was your age when I became an esthetician after having hopes of being an orthopedic physician. I believ over time more and more skin experts and estheticians of color will definitely get their seat at the table. Stay strong! You can do this!

Taj Mahaly omg thankyou for replying🤧 This only motivates me more to go after my passion. I think gen Z suffers from so much pressure from society to be successful or run your own business before you’re 25. And that’s just not realistic for everyone. Everyone’s timing is indeed different. And by the time I’ll be done studying I’ll be a licensed skin therapist by 26. That’s not too bad I think :)

Sheralyn please look at your age going backwards instead of forwards. You've only been an adult for a couple of years. You will BE an adult for the next 50 to 70 years. YOU ARE YOUNG!!! I didn't go to nursing school until I was 30 years old. I am 50 now. I am ready for a new chapter in my life. Life including career goals are a journey. Please know that the same pressures put on this generation was put on my generation. Plus there were not as many options and opportunities as this generation has. When I look at some of the things younger people do (notice I said younger, cause I'm young too lol) I am amazed. Please change your mindset and know you have the world and life at your feet. I have so many friends entering their 50s even 60s who are re-inventing themselves. They are excited about it and look forward to learning new things. We build on what we learned in our 20s 30s and 40s and make the second half of our lives even better. I wish you all the very best.

At 47 I was literally sitting in my car watching this in the parking lot of CVS... depressed AF after taking pics to submit to a skin care place here in Boston. I am 100% that diet is wreaking havoc on my skin, energy, and overall well being. My cystic acne scarring is on my face, back, and chest and I struggle every day to go out in the world. I'm a Speech Language Pathologist for kids so I am often in close contact with kids. When I catch them looking at me, I always back away or try to cover my face in some way. I have actually been happy to wear a mask during Covid because it hides my facial scarring. I did the accutane twice in my twenties and it didn't really work which was very devastating.

So far in treatment, she has me on a diet full of fiber and fresh eating. No meat , no dairy , etc. I don’t wish this kind of acne on anyone 🤦🏾♀️😩 but definitely I wish I would’ve watched your video when you first posted ❤️

I could feel it throughout my body, it was showing on my face and on my back just everywhere..... So as soon as I stopped eating a lot of sweets and dairy.... I cut back on a lot of stuff because I love food and I love junk food, I love cheese, I love sweets, and when I cut back and I started drinking more water taking probiotics and just over taking care of myself/body/face a lot better and leaving soda and stuff alone I saw a big difference!

I think your Retin a was too strong for first time use. Most people start at 0.25 or 0.50. I’m not sure how you were instructed to use it, but you should ease into it. Start only using it about 2x a week for 2 weeks, then gradually increase your days. Apply moisturizer FIRST, wait 30 minutes then apply the Retin-A. Your cleanser and moisturizer should be basic, like a Cerave cleanser. As well as your moisturizer.
