The pushing off the toe problem is something I've had for ages, explains why I'm getting blisters along the outside of my foot... thanks so much for the video!

Danul83 That's my problem. I have been pushing off my heals on my four wheel roller skates forever. How do you change that? I feel like I'm going to fall if I push out from my heels.

I learned when I was an Active duty Marine to carry extra socks and change out the wet ones as soon as possible. Moleskin I always add in my first aid kit! Good idea to have a first aid kit in the trunk of your car or backpack for blisters, road rash , sprang, or any other common emergency. Safety first!

Thanks so much for this video. I started roller skating, the old fashioned 4 wheels and I love it but got a blister on the bottom of my right foot under the toes. Friction is right. So much good advice on the video, I'm sure I'll heal soon. Thanks for doing this video.

Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video. I grew up playing Ice hockey, and im not 100% that I have good form. It was always more about quick bursts of speed followed by quick bursts of stopping haha. So now that im 30 and going on long skates with my old roller hockey skates, it has been tough keeping up with people. So I took the plunge and spent some money on some new powerslides. THEY ARE AMAZING! I did a 12 miler today on my way to pick up my car from the shop, and it was a blast, BUUUT, theyre BRAND NEW SKATES haha, so I got a blister in a spot I had NEVER gotten one. In the past I know my hotspots and with ice hickey skates I've learned the tricks to make it manageable til it becomes a callus. But with this new ones, I was stumped. 1. new callus, 2. in a spot I've neeeever had one. and 3. I cant get enough of them so I want to keep skating. This video made it so I know good alternatives, or ways to make my skate tomorrow more manageable. And I'd like to thank you for that!

Very informative. Definitely sound like you know what you're talking about, and I'm sure you have saved me some blisters. SOME, because there's no getting away from the untrained feet thing unless I want to shorten my sessions, and I don't. I AM a toe pusher though, and I know exactly why I'm getting blisters where I'm getting them now (front-inside edge of my feet). Thanks for that.

I use COMPEED® plaster for wet blisters. It's good even if you are already injured. In some cases wearing 2 socks also help - 1 thin and one thick tennis socks on it. But im not riding speedskating boots. Totally agree about moisture

Thanks, today I was skating for my first time on my new ice skates and my toe was really hurting. When I got home, I realized it was a blister. I was told to not pop it, and also wear thinner socks. Despite the fact I have always worn thick socks. I think it has something to do with the boot though, I had rental skates for a long time and never noticed my feet getting blisters until now. Hopefully my blister heals before the weekend when I go skating next time. I will just wrap it up and let it heal on it's own.

Excellent advice on blisters i haven't tried taping yet but I just purchased a pair of Kangoo jump boots a couple weeks ago which cause crazy blisters on my arches I've tried mole skin wool socks Dr schols blister pads doubling up socks and nothing seems to be working. They are a jumping boot and aren't the same thing as inline skates but are pretty close they are just skates(rollerblades) with bouncy shells on the bottom! I have training next week to get certified as a dancer in them but I'm in so much pain I dunno how I'm gonna do it!! Any suggestions? Every time I go for a run in them the bandages just come off or the mole skin shifts and it's pointless I'm at a loss! Hoping you can help!

I've got multiple active blisters on the underside of my right foot below the toe, from session roller skating (Quads) on a weekly basis. This video has some great tips for dealing with it. But I'm really interested in the part of bad forum. Can you point me to any tips for quad skating or would the same thing apply?

Thank you for the instructive video! I have a question: what do you think about using eezyfit for preventing blisters. My experience: it gives a lot of moisture so that the effectiveness diminishes
@DangerManXX
@DangerManXX 7 жыл бұрын
Yes. Wear them. Put talcum powder on your feet before long skates. This helps minimize friction. I'm working on a video now for actual pain points and how to work around those as well as blisters.
@DangerManXX
@DangerManXX 11 жыл бұрын
It is the same for quads. It's the boot and your form that factor everything. Remember the 'hot' spot is because the friction is in that or those locations due to undue rubbing. Friction. ONE lesson with any qualified instructor and they should examine your form, and solve most of your issue. Remember even I get other advanced skate friends pointing out when I use bad form. It's not an insult.

I've always have had issues with blisters, but could never really find any relief. I'm back at it again after 7 years and have tried to double up my socks which did not help. Gonna try bandaging next. Pretty sure the exo shell is part of the problem...

As far as the fitment goes, you of course want a boot that fits correctly but also how tight you tie them has a factor as well. If you don't tie them tight enough your foot is immediately vulnerable to blisters due to friction regardless of any other factor but if you tie them too tight you can cause foot pain and poor circulation from compression of the boot on your feet.

can anyone help me out. what if you suspect your boot size is too large? I can't just go and buy another pair of skates. and double and triple socks don't seem to work. is there anything I can do
@DangerManXX
@DangerManXX 7 жыл бұрын
No. Fit is crucial. Too small and you get toe curl, too large and... blisters, pronation, poor form... And going with layers of socks is counter productive. I wish I had better news.

DangerMan will the blockers work for now until I eventually try to get a better size or will the blisters form regardless?
@DangerManXX
@DangerManXX 7 жыл бұрын
With a poor sizing, blisters form from all the friction. Over time your skin will callous but that seems a lot of suffering. Netracing Used. Search that. They have a used for sale page with important brands for sale. However if you are rec skater, most of the speed skates won't fit your needs. I can suggest the PowerSlide R4's. They are a speed skate with a HIGH mid cuff. That is if you are skating for speed and smooth skating. Otherwise Seba has a $200 rec skate that is a brute. You can't go wrong with them. I think it's an F series skate. F80? 80 indicates the size wheels. NO soft boots. Too much shifting around. They may start comfy but they just don't live will over time. They break down. You want something that maintains some stiffness over time to keep control over your torque.

Band-Aid Friction Block. I promise you will never have blisters again. I was a pretty good skater in college (hockey) and had developed callouses back then. But I don't skate often any more, and I have no callouses now. I would get blisters every time I went out. Frustrating. Came across Friction Block accidentally at the pharmacy one time and picked some up. I didn't actually use it until months later, but when I went skating again, I just put some of this stuff on my ankles, and skated for hours. It goes on like a solid stick deodorant. I did nothing else to prevent the blisters: Absolutely NO blisters developed. I can't say enough about this stuff.
