I have Hashimoto's. Chronic stress is my number one giant I struggle with. You have to be your own scholar like Dr. Datis K says to do. I finally found a functional doctor who tested me for food sensitivity. I had cut out gluten for years but found out dairy and eggs were way worse for inflammation. Then found out I am Homozygous MTHFR and can't absorb B12 Methylcobalamin and methylation sucks for me. I feel horrible when I take B9( folate)I was also getting numb toes(neuropathy which doctors couldn't figure out why). Since switching to a B12 Hydroxocobalamin and B12 Adrenosylcobalamin, I feel like a new person( less brain fog, more energy) the numbness is going away in my toes. Also over exercise makes me feel horrible. And getting good quality sleep is so important. I'm still working on adrenal low cortisol. Hashimoto's is quite the auto immune disease and it's a daily struggle. I learned alot from you Dr Rutherford on your Cutting Through the B.S Hashimoto's Thyroiditis video. Rome wasn't built in a day....stay strong!

I do not absorb B12-even by injection-how do you test to understand why? Homozygous MTHFR?

@@jillf24 B12 shots are Methylcobalamin. And I have problems absorbing this along with B9 folate. You can ask your doctor to test for MTHFR. It was a blood test for me.

I take a Hydroxocobalim/adenosylcobalamin B12 lozenge that dissolves in the mouth. Bypassing the stomach.

I am excited. My consult is tomorrow. I have fibromyalgia, and thanks to your video possible Hashimotos. I have been doing my own research, and it makes perfect sense why I am having so many issues, but conventional medicine is not helping at all. I think the difference is with fibro we need an individual approach. I was called a hypochondriac and lost out on disability because of that label. I wish regular insurance would cover doctors like you.

Very good explanation of the frustration of the management of the many faces of Hashimotos! You are right people generally want a simple answer or a quick fix which is impossible. I find educating yourself with as much information as possible from people like yourself and other forums about Hashimotos gives some perspective of the challenges , but also lots of opportunities to try things yourself . As you say start looking at supporting your immune system with sleep, nutrition , exercise, hydration, relaxation exercises. Baby steps introducing new things gradually. Stop looking for a ‘ cure ‘ . You end up being more knowledgable than your family doctor , but that’s a good thing when it’s your body 😊

This is how we should treat all disease! Don’t rush into taking drugs. Most illness is caused by stress, food sensitivities and toxins.

My take away is that the magic trick is using your skill and experience to identify the individual’s triggers from a list of likely suspects, then have that person adjust their behavior. What a hero’s journey that must be! Healthy people are resistant to behavior modification. Sick people aren’t in enough control to adjust because they are overwhelmed by suffering. I can see how deeply you care about every one of us out here suffering and looking for a way out of the pain. Sissaphus only had to deal with pushing a boulder uphill, not desperate people who can’t help themselves. I will try harder to change my behavior in honor of your dedication to helping the millions lost to this cruel cluster of illnesses.

I’ve been watching you guys for a couple years. Thank you for all your hard work. Especially covering thin man’s Hashimoto’s etc. But... I had an anterior cervical fusion with titanium plate & 8 screws a few months before the first obvious autoimmune symptoms and diagnoses. Haven’t been tested for titanium allergy yet, but I’m very curious about the surgeon having damaged my thyroid. The incision was much larger much higher then I was told it was going to be. He even told me I was going to be in pain for the rest of my life. I didn’t believe him. 15 years later... Can you do a video on Hashimoto’s due to physically damaged thyroid?

Martin, can you please advise if Hashimoto’s can only be put in ‘remission’ but not ‘turned off’….Is it the case that once it’s triggered, the best you can ever hope for is remission?
@DrMartinRutherford
@DrMartinRutherford 2 жыл бұрын
Correct. Remission is the goal. Nice thing is that once in remission many are able to keep it in remission without too many issues.

What happens if you can’t take and have a very bad reaction to T4 medications? 😕 I also have the MTHFR gene (don’t know if that plays a role in any of this). But T4 meds make me feel worse and do nothing for my symptoms….which have progressively gotten worse. I took just citamel (t3) for several years and it was the only thing to make me feel “normal” range. But then that stopped working also.

***Can you recommend a great functional Dr. in central Florida ?
@DrMartinRutherford
@DrMartinRutherford 4 жыл бұрын
The short answer to your question is we, unfortunately, don't know of anyone in your area. The longer answer is that we have married two disciplines (functional medicine and chiropractic neurology) to put together what we feel is the most comprehensive program for chronic problems available today. While there are others who claim to do similar treatments we have not met any who practice exactly how we do and have made referrals in the past where the results were less than stellar. We have patients that we have worked with from all over the world. If you would like to find out how you can schedule a consultation with Dr. Rutherford to go over your particular case you can find out more at powerhealthconsult.com

@DrMartinRutherford
@DrMartinRutherford 4 жыл бұрын
It takes an organized approach starting with proper testing, and then proper diet, and then further refining care based on the testing and other patient information. There is no one answer for everyone which is what makes Hashimoto's so difficult to treat.

@@piakjellssoniktren how can you say this is a joke to him . Do you mean this Doctor? Why would you say something about a doctor who’s going through the struggles of Celiac and Hashimoto and trying to help people as best he can . These autoimmune diseases are so bad I have four Celiac, MS, Hashimoto and Raynaud’s I have symptoms of lupus and positive ANA with a speckled pattern but my titers were 1:40 which means I need further testing . But knowing how difficult life has become for me especially with this Hashimoto , I am having a awful time with this one and I appreciate a man who happens to be a doctor who knows how much this truly effects us even after being on replacement T4 he knows it’s not the only answer he lives with the very same problem so how is this a joke to Dr. Martin who makes these little KZbin updates to help people who don’t know what to do or where to turn! So I say thank you Dr. Rutherford for helping me and many people who do appreciate you . There is always going to be someone who complains unfortunately that’s how some people are just mean .
