Watch to learn one strategy that we use to restore load sharing across the lower limb when our clients express knee hyperextension or early knee extension during gait. Keep in mind, this is one of many strategies as part of a treatment/rehab plan that we would use, but this video will help you understanding the key neuromechanical features!

Great essential detail in breaking it down. I'm Irish also, and I slowed the video down to really think about each piece of information. Well done and keep up the videos.

I prefer to do assisted Peterson Step Ups and the Poliquin Step Up both get the knee over more than the one you did (aka Patrick Step Up). But I like your regression seated. I noticed quickly that the Peterson Step Up (most challenging) helped pretty quickly with my gait cycle when walking avoiding hyper extension…I still have weakness in my foot…ie weakness with plantar flexion.

Those step up variations don’t integrate ankle plantar flexion as much as the ones we’re working through here. That’s our intention - to coordinate load between the quads & ankle plantar flexors to reduce the tendency to extend the shin (which would drive the load into the heel, which reduces the contribution from the ankle PF & quads). I like those step up variations you mentioned if the goal is to concentrate load into the distal quadriceps
