Alex, I just played a Reversed Caro-Kann game (I opened 1. c3) - and won with 97% accuracy - applied the concepts from your videos but up a tempo!

1.c3 is my best scoring opening move and I try to play it as reversed caro or slav/London depending on the response. It's VERY simple and VERY strong and reduces the opening prep massively. You can pre- move D4 against anything or play 2.a3 as a waiting move that improves the slav/caro. It crushes. No one playing black is ready for the reversed caro up a tempo. Play this Alex.

I must say this is one of the more instructive Jobava videos by far! I often get that ideal dream set up and castled queenside as recommended, but then I sometimes lack a concrete plan afterward. Do I attack the kingside with those pawns? What if black plays well and goes all out on the queenside?

the individual item is known as scissors, and its made of two scissor blades. The metaphorical use is scissor ie "we will scissor the front lines." Typically its better to just use the word Cut or slice.

I've just played my first everJLgames! With 89% accuracy! Usually I play Busch-Gass whether white or black. I can win in 17 moves and stockfish will tell me that I made 9 mistakes and 8 blunders! The pawn storm works great, especially in my second-last game where I had rook and queen behind the pawns.

Englund is the ultimate trick opening - cause if white knows what to do, black is just down a pawn (or more) for nothing. At least in other gambits you get equal position.

You obviously don't know about the medusa gambit. It sucks so much that you can't even find a guide on KZbin. The only benefit of knowing it is that you won't resign when you mouse slip and blunder a pawn while giving your opponent free tempo.

I struggle to do well with the jobava when they keep the Bishop inside the pawn chain. The games seem to become very random. Outside the chain the pawn push makes the games more consistent and easier

Scissors: yeah, in English (crazy language) you can only have a pair of scissors. You can't have a single scissor. Stupid way to construct a language, but there you have it. You can't put two scissors together to make a pair of scissors, since there is no such thing as a scissor. Same with pants. You can only have a pair of pants, never a single pant. Love your videos, the entire concept of finding openings good for schlubs like me who don't want to memorize a zillion variants ... brilliant! And,as a bonus, hilarious!

yeah, learning how to play against a million different e4 openings is pretty annoying...but that sounds like a good opportunity for some pretty sweet content. You should do a bunch of different series, each one on how to deal with the french, caro, scandinavian, pirc, sicilian, etc...I would be interested to see what your preferred response is to each one. Like for the caro, Rosen showed some pretty sweet two knights traps against it, so now i pretty much always play two knights against the caro...I think I've seen that Levy mostly plays the advance french in his videos etc. It would be cool to see in depth videos on how best to handle various defenses. I've kinda plateaued at 1300 blitz and I feel like there's just so much to remember, it's coming slowly but surely though

I think that’s better objectively, but I find it harder to play for beginners. What I love about f3 is that it pretty much works well always vs bf5 lines in any form.

Look up the Howell v. Kasparov game where Howell broke the Jobava out against Garry. Kasparov goes 4..Bf5 and Howell did this pawn push and apparently Kasparov just sat there and was like “you can’t play this, what even is this?” 😂 It’s not just beginners that struggle with it. Even the greatest player of all time can lose to it.

Can someone explain the checkmate threat for white demonstrated at 3:30? there are several ways to defend as black, so much so that I put the board into chessbase and had stockfish double check and it's such a non-threat that the top engine move i can see is Bb4 just toally ignoring the king side of white.
