Or you can take free material and teach how to convert a winning position "positionally", as they say: one of the hardest things in chess is to win a winning position

Great video! I love hearing concepts and principles. In 2nd game, I believe that's called a Dovetail Mate - Rook and Queen being the tail. PS: Nothing weird about repeating concepts every game. It's helpful. You're not leaving new viewers in the dark!

Nice Alex. Curiosity: Capybaras (Capivara in portuguese) are so common here in my town, they are everywhere there is water, even been seen lurking in the sea. But the curiosity is that, I don't know why, we use it in expressions like "he is a capybara" - meaning: he is such a dumb player. Curiosities apart, thank you for these jobava and caro-kann lessons.

I love your videos, and I have learned a lot from them, but I have a little question: In game 2 in this video, what do you do if white plays 11.Bf4 instead of 11. Be2? That must be winning for white, or am I missing something?

The counter on typical and something killed me 😂 Any chance you are planning on more KID videos? Or the Slav? I’ve watched every CK and JoMama video you have.. but still struggle against 1. d4 as black.. As always - thank you for spending your time on these videos for all of us. If you are ever in Chicago - hit me up and I’ll make sure you have an awesome time. :)

I have played chess for 45 years now off and on and float around 2200 on lichess. I have never really focused on theory instead been a guy who just likes to get into a middlegame and endgame and play "real chess". I started learning about the London System (accelerated) and liked what I learned. I stumbled upon the Jobava and then your videos and am really learning a lot. I've been leaving a lot on the table in the openings and have already gotten so many cheap wins and easily won middle games that I am almost disgusted with myself :)

In America, the term is "Set the hook" as opposed to "Fix the hook". "Set the hook" is a fishing term describing the act of yanking the fishing pole backwards to ensure the hook pierces the fish's mouth.
@erichobbs4042
@erichobbs4042 2 күн бұрын
Yeah, but in chess when you move your pawn into opposition with the opponent pawn, that's called fixing the pawn, because the pawns are fixed in place and can no longer advance unless they can capture another piece. So in this context, fixing the hook makes sense.
