I used the word splitting method, and can do two very fast Rs; good enough to say the words correctly. After about a week of doing that, a roll is starting to happen, but only a couple of hits still. It will take time, because the tongue has to relax into the form.

While it doesn’t affect me much in English, I do struggle with the r sounds in both Japanese and Spanish. Paola, que chévere tu vídeo! Gracias por tu ayuda. Pero una pregunta... What if due to the anatomy of my mouth or something ... My tongues is not very long so for example if I tried to relax it but stick it out of my mouth, I can't stick it that far out... Could that make this difficult to produce this sound because I can't bend it over and touch the roof of my palette without actually tucking it deep in the back of my mouth...? I have just come back from my second 8 months spent in Colombia 🇨🇴❤️ and I love languages and excel very fast in them (never a class in Spanish) but my intermediate French helps me a lot as it is so similar to Spanish.... But I still can't produce this sound. 🤭😞 Que pena! Gracias por tu consultita. 😊☀️

Hola Philip. You don’t need to stick it out of your mouth, if you do that you’ll be releasing so much air and therefore you won’t be able to make the vibrations we’re looking for. As long as your tongue can touch the back of your upper teeth, you’re good. We don’t bend it over deep back of our mouth. Hope it helps! Keep it up!

@SpeakSpanishWithPaula
@SpeakSpanishWithPaula 4 жыл бұрын
Lensiax You got the soft R. As for the strong one, if you feel that sounds like the “TH” then you probably are not pushing your tongue against the upper teeth. Put the tongue behind your upper teeth, then flap it and that’s when you need to allow the air to come through. Try this combination “Pe” + “run in English without the “n” sound”, it’s a way to begin but definitely it’ll sound better than a “TH”. Or just try to imitate the sound a child would make while playing with motorcycles. I hope it helps. Keep me updated 😉

@@lensiax9276 Still trying to say “perro” with rolled RR? Try pushing the tip of your tongue against the back of your front teeth as if scraping peanut butter off the roof of your mouth and say Ped (space) (now move tongue forward keeping against roof of your mouth) say Droh *Don’t lift tongue from roof of mouth* (REPEAT UNTIL YOU “get it”! You will hear it!!!!)

Pronounce RR As if English “d” (dog). Now say this: Cod (space)Doh Cod (space)Doh Cod (space)Doh Cod (space) Doh (REPEAT THIS UNTIL YOU HEAR THE TRILL). You can get this!!!

Surely it’s possible. I’ve seen it. It’s just a matter of practice, consistency and patience 😉

@@SpeakSpanishWithPaula My OEM dialect makes it very difficult to learn, it goes against everything the Spanish language needs to pronounce correctly.

Okay so, I know how to do these, I never had any problem with the distinction between soft and hard. BUT I just CANNOT pronounce words in which dental consonants follow the r. My Spanish boyfriend has been trying to teach me for so long and I've been watching so many videos but no success. Maybe it's not a common problem? Does anyone also have trouble saying "mierda" properly when they really want to in this situation? 😂

Thank you for the useful video presented by a charming person. There are 2 technical problems. 1) The prerecorded bland background music is distracting. 2) The EXCESSIVE scene transitions are very amateurish. Just because you can do all kinds of transitions does not mean you have to use them.

I appreciate your honest feedback. This is one of my first videos. Along the way I’ve made some changes. My last videos have almost no transitions or sound effects in between. Once again, thanks for watching 😊
