Hello we our have difficult to cutting 7.5 “ crown molding try any angles it’s 45 but when we cut it’s not coming out the e d side well it’s no joints if you able give us the tips we watch lots off crown molding video this is also not flat crown
@SawsetTools2 жыл бұрын
You most likely have the Crown molding in the wrong location. Slide the 2 moldings at the same time up or down the wall. Test this method with 2 short pieces, then you will understand what I'm saying. We have 2 other video on installing crown molding.

I have an oak staircase and the carpenter butted the treads up against the drywall, therefore, I have no skirtboard. In all your experience, what can I do to dress out the area from the treads upward? The treads have a bullnose, so it would be almost impossible to retrofit a tread there. What would look good? THUMBS UP!!!
@SawsetTools Жыл бұрын
You could install trimming as if there is a stringer, or there are videos that show how to build a skirt board.
@lostinmyspace4910 Жыл бұрын
@@SawsetTools Is it advisable to cut out the drywall where the skirtboard could be in its place? A thin oak skirtboard, as thin as wallboard, cut to fit, and perhaps a decorative quarterround strip where the new shirtboard hits the wallboard on that angle?

One can use a transition blocks when mixing 2 different profiles. And sometimes, like in your case, one can use the top part of the baseboard only to go around and over the stringer. This way one can miter the base with the stair moulding correctly. Butting trim like you did looks terrible. They are two separate trim details butted together. A pro would never do what you did, I'm sorry.

A “pro” would find the angle of the rake of the staircase and automatically know all their subsequent miters and angle cuts. 😉

@@SawsetTools I get it, but I’ve been a stair builder for 10+ years. When I realized one day early in my career that After I set the rake of my skirt board and from there automatically knew all my miter cuts it was an eye opener. It made things much faster, because I didn’t have to fiddle with an angle gauge. I however still use an angle gauge from time to time, it has its uses for sure.
