Jim, I am using what is called a 9 mm black extra sharp blade in a “break away “refillable-cartridge type knife that I purchased at paint stores such as Sherwin Williams. Here it is www.walmart.com/ip/Olfa-Black-UltraSharp-Snap-Off-Blades-9mm-50-Pack/114952864?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=1122&&adid=22222222228071288500&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=m&wl3=181964711170&wl4=aud-566049426705:pla-287286691358&wl5=9012359&wl6=&wl7=9004468&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=101593696&wl11=online&wl12=114952864&veh=sem&gclid=CjwKCAjwps75BRAcEiwAEiACMXXGa73Ce_7RlFbofJ6SGI2hPUuHe9PTFRuREo0HLtjRHCddApCbCBoCNVcQAvD_BwE
You are amazing!!! I so wish I had watched your videos before I attempted to take down the pall paper in my bathroom. It was put up by builders that did not prime the walls and put it up right over the sheet rock. What a mess!! I also took the advise of a home store that said I could paint right over the wallpaper with a primer and then just paint. Not so good! The seems showed right through and buckled. Now I have such a mess! No idea what to do now. Any suggestions would be so much appreciated.

Joy, thank you for watching my channel! Do not panic, there’s nothing you cannot remove. First you have to determine the level of difficulty your wallpaper is to remove… Wet it down with a garden sprayer attacking the seams first and then the top and the bottom where the water can get underneath the paper; start pulling it off with your fingernails where it’s wet; once you get the front of the wallpaper off, the real trick is to get the backing down; wet it repeatedly and after you have wet it for a half an hour you will know If it is very difficult, moderately difficult or very easy. And then you will determine what tools you will need to get it down… Simple Dash fingernails in water, moderately difficult, plastic scrapers, may be a metal scraper but no damage to your wall as you pull it down… Very very difficult is a metal scraper and a lot of damage to your wall; it is up to you joy to figure out what level of difficulty it is in order to determine what tools you will need. Please KZbin Spencercolgan Wallpaper Removal and you will come up with a series of videos which show you that most of your wallpaper removal is easy and does not require any tools at all! Here are just a few: Would you do me a favor? Since you loved my videos, would you give me a five star review on Google on the following link and say some nice words and read my videos based on their content, their value, etc.? Any tips mate for cutting the paper at the bottom near skirting the skirting is un even so keeps ripping the paper at the top no problem so cant be the knife should I wait till its dry
@spencercolgan4 жыл бұрын
Excellent excellent idea but if you could not wait until it was dry this is what you should be doing… Make your knife cut the paper add an angle that uses the shaft of the blade more than just at the tip. In other words, bring your blade down toward the woodwork so that you are using that only the tip of the blade but also part of the shaft and here’s what you do… Move quickly in 8 inch spurts and then stop, then do that again… Something about the blade moving quickly in short rapid spurts presents tearing the paper

Hi Spencer. What would you do with a rounded corner if you aren't planning on continuing the wallpaper around the corner? I'm at a loss for where I should actually make the cut so that it won't look awkward.
@spencercolgan4 жыл бұрын
I have a video covering this issue. I would take either a forefoot level or, a laser level, and then put a straight edge against the rounded corner and cut right in the centre of the round the corner straight down and end in the middle of the rounded or what we call, bullnose corner
@spencercolgan4 жыл бұрын

Can you tell me why you would cut it there on the edge of an outside corner
@spencercolgan4 жыл бұрын
It’s a great question and you probably don’t realise that that corner is where the wallpaper end it. You were probably thinking why the heck is he doing there and then he’s going to continue on the other side of the corner… “They would be silly on my part but you’re right you wouldn’t cut it there if you were continuing. Because I was stopping on the corner, I had to cut the wallpaper

You need to do this in one cut from top to bottom, folding waste paper & taking the weight, that way no jaggies as you had here, but it can be tricky, also for the inexperienced don't angle the blade as it Will trim short of edge, keep straight
@spencercolgan Жыл бұрын
True. Unless you need to run to the bathroom
@TheWESTSIDE1967 Жыл бұрын
@@spencercolgan good job, papers can be a nightmare & i had one last week that was so thin that even though i used brand new snap offs it still wouldn't cut without tearing, as soon as the papers pasted it becomes more fragile so i much prefer the paste the wall as opposed to paper as it's more like cutting cardboard when dry & much cleaner cut , scissors also leave jaggies, we need a very sharp wheel cutter instead of a knife with a point which is dragged across the paper, that way it's pressing down into place & cutting 👍
