+James Davey I'm right there with you man, mine is already touching the center of my bottom lip and it's always getting in my mouth when trying to eat. No matter how hard I try, I just can't seem to get it to part and stay put and it's very annoying to me. I'm almost at a point where I want to trim the middle of it like in the video, but I might give it a bit longer just to see what happens.

Some of the individual hairs in my mustache want to stick out or up, so I end up cutting them. Also, when my mustache gets longer, it actually can get sore just under my nose, at the base of the hairs. When it does this, I feel like I need to trim it to make it feel better. I've never used stuff like beard oil or mustache cream or wax. I just shampoo, same as the hair on my head and when I get out of the shower, I use a little leave-in conditioner. I need to try something different, though, because I've always had very dry, wiry hair. Especially my beard. Also, my beard is much whiter now than in my picture.

i am new to the beard community. about 3 months and i'm really enjoying it...it is mostly a van dyke which i love...my questions is can i put conditioner on my mustache and beard that i would use on my hair? i keep it relatively short which i like...however, when i shampoo my hair with beard shampoo, i sometimes get fly away hairs which don't lay flat...i have resisted clipping them of to get the look i desire. any suggestions? i keep the mustache at a good length. (i've had numerous mustaches throughout the years) and the only thing that drives me nuts is an occasional hair on my lip...a single hair drives me crazy to the point of breaking out the scissors and attacking it...i find your tips very helpful and would like to thank you in advance...any advise would be greatly appreciated...keep up the good work...

George do you have any advice for the ends of the mustache? Obviously they should be long enough to handlebar (if that's the goal), but mine lately have started curling down. At the moment, I feel that half of the hairs want to curl upwards while others push down, which leads to the ends of my mustache looking like a inch of split ends. How do you get the ends of your mustache to be so uniform? Thanks!
@Most1ted8 жыл бұрын
What is your opinion on trimming your beard using nothing but scissors? So far I'm too scared to use a clipped. I'm afraid of butchering my beard too much.
@ListenMySon8 жыл бұрын
I try to think about the worst case scenario. If you mess up with clippers... # 1 It'll show. # 2 You set yourself back months. Sooo.... use scissors flat to the plane of your beard. Never point in. Scissors can give a nice look. Professionally I use clippers first then scissors, but I have 360 degree 3 dimensional view of my guest's beard. You can do it, but go easy. Most of the epic beard guys have made that mistake once or twice but not more than that. It's a hard lesson. Onward!
@Most1ted8 жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot for the tip. I'll stick with the scissors for now. Although I plan to see a professional barber soon. Especially since the longer beard requires a bit more maintenance and as I mentioned, I'm afraid to mess it up. Keep making great content! Subscribed!

hi, I have a scar underneath my chin but a little bit on the side. the problem is that my beard is less dense on the side where the scar is than the other side. so it just doesn't look right. what do you think I should do to make it look better? thanks
@ListenMySon8 жыл бұрын
I believe time and length are the answer for most issues. I would let it go and trim the line underneath. That may visually take ones eye from any weaker areas. If you're not going to have a huge beard, then a well shaped one is a great alternative. Thank you Ahmed. I hope it works out well sir.

I've trimmed my mustache in a similar fashion to what you show here and it looks great, but I have another issue. No matter what products I use, the longer mustache hairs beyond the corners of my mouth tend to be pretty ornery and just won't stay uniform with the mustache the way yours does. My hair is pretty straight, so my beard looks very similar to yours but I'll get wild hairs that either don't want to flow in the right direction or are super curly. Would you say this is a trimming issue? Would blow drying help?
@ListenMySon8 жыл бұрын
No not at all. it really is a length and training issue. let them grow and spend an extra few seconds blowdrying them in the direction you want them to go. i have the same issue. hope that helps. cheers!

You could "lift" the existing color with a peroxide made for hair. Then put a gray or silverish toner on it. This needs to be done professionally as the chemicals are strong and toxic. I dont recommend it.

Hope this comment finds it's way to you, sir! It know it's a been a while since this was posted. I see the constant back & forth about whether to trim or not to trim the handlebar mustache. I'm at a point where, washed and without styling, the hair is into my mouth or just past (but because of curl, ends up in my mouth anyway. I also feel like I'm constantly fighting the hair, even though I've been styling it for months. It doesn't seem to want to 'train.' I'm thinking I may just want to trim it like this and stop fighting it...any advice?
