This is undoubtedly the best and most comprehensive video on setting up and trolling drone spoons. The first time I watched this I took notes, went out today and purchased a good quality American Made (L.B. Hungtington) Size 2 (4") drone spoon. Gonna rig it up tonight. I'll probably be trolling a skirted lure on a No. 3 planer (far troll) and the drone spoon on a No. 4 (near troll) next fishing trip in about 2 weeks time. Thank you once again for great tutoring!!!

Hi Heath. Who doesn’t love a good ole’ drone spoon!!!! Super effective. Great advice with the top shot of mono onto braid. For a while now, I stopped using wire leader because I haven’t seen a lot of bite offs. In fact, it amazes me how many times a Mackeral gets hooked perfectly at the very tip of its mouth. Especially when you think about how erratic the drone spoon moves through the water. Great video and thank you for providing this outlet for people who love fishing. Stay well. Jay

Hi Jay, thanks for watching and sharing. Mono only definitely adds to the stealth factor, only increasing that hook up ratio. Macks are always hitting right at the trail end... that's the disabling of the by striking the tail first. Mackerel have a unique way of hunting that seems to allow them to enjoy a good meal without swallowing it hole on the initial attack. Thanks again for all you do to keep this channel going and add some true value to the discussion, I truly and sincerely appreciate it. Hope all is well with you and your family. Tight lines & take care ;)

Hi Heath, Another great informational video. All the little tips, like adding a top shot of mono for the shock absorbency, makes a difference. It's the how and why, that helps us know what set-up to use and how to fish it. As I've said before, knowledge catches fish and you have the knowledge. I guess Avi and the "Fishing Girls" are happy that school is out. Say "Hi" to everyone. I'll talk to you on Sunday. Have fun and good luck, Mickey

Hi Mickey, thanks for watching. It's funny as I film and edit, to try and understand and keep things simple, yet there is so much to cover, and I don't even get to everything... Most of this info is just the tip of the iceberg. But it the simplicity of the outcome that I'm drawn to... So much footage ends up getting cut, because I feel I'm rambling on or going off on a tangent that will only complicate things. I can't thank you enough for all you've done for the channel over the years. Truly & sincerely... Thank you. Hope all is well with you and the family. The Girls & the Slayer say "Hi". Thanks again, I'll talk to you on Sunday. Take care ;)

Hi Heath, "Hi" to everyone. Thank you for all the information you have given us over the years. I think the details are important, because many of them are often overlooked and make the difference between failure and success. We can always learn something from each other. Your viewers often ask good questions and leave good comments. Talk to you on Sunday. Have fun and good luck, Mickey

Hi Alex, thanks a boat load for watching. King Macks love these. Best thing is, there's no bait involved, and no re-rigging. Just track down the fish, get them on the deck and repeat the process. Thanks again for always being here and taking time to say "Hi". I truly and sincerely appreciate it. Hope all is well with you and your family. Tight lines & take care ;)

I was going to troll a drone spoon with a planner in the gulf in about 20 to 30 feet of water, how big of a leader should I use?
@SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing3 жыл бұрын
That's some shallow water for a planer. My advice is use a size #1 planer with 100 feet of 60lb monofilament leader.

Hey, couldn’t help but think isn’t it extremely dangerous being alone and near the edge of your boat with no life vest and the engine running on its own? What happens if you slip into the ocean, you can’t catch up to your boat and drown?

Thanks a million for watching and asking a great question. I have a remote kill switch and a lanyard kill key switch (that I have hooked on when running). So If I ever go over, I can kill the motor and swim back to the boat. Would most definitely be out a rod & reel, but I'd still have my life. Hope this helps.
