In this exciting offshore fishing adventure I go over how versatile and productive this tiny spoon lure can be. Showcasing the many different species it can put you into the bite with, along with going over exactly how to troll the reefs and what to do find fish. Nothing shy of a non-stop action packed, information filled saltwater fishing show. If you're into shallow water trolling, spoon trolling, or maybe you're wanting to go to the Florida Keys for a day and do some fishing, but have no clue what to do... This episode's definitely for you.
Enjoy ;)
Tight lines & good vibes.

hey Mr. Heath, you will catch way more yellow jacks and bar jacks with a small little yellow Calcutta bucktail jig, some people call them pompano jigs but its either or, I recommend a 1/2 ounce and under and you will slay em, but u have to jig the lure behind the boat at a 180 degree angle with your wrist, and you just make a flicking motion repeatedly, it gives the jig action in the water and entices any predators looking from afar.

The key is having fun as you said. There is so many tactics and pressure on dialing in on one species, it becomes a job and can be disappointing when things don’t pan out. It happens to all of us and can be very frustrating. This is a great example as how to catch fish and have fun! I’m gonna add this to my days out on the water. In fact I’m going out in the morning. Hi Alex. Good luck with your finals hope you knock it out of the ballpark. The car is still being worked on I got a little while ago still as I can only do a little bit here and there parts are on order though. That little lure is a crazy item to have. It's amazing how the lures attractiveness overpowers the fact that it's hooked up to wire. Not sure I'd have the same effect with a just as effective lure like a bucktail jig hooked up on wire. Enjoy your break hope all is well with you and your family. Can't thank you enough for taking out time from your life to stop by and chat with me. Thanks again. Tight lines & take care ;)

Hi Heath, The Clark Spoon seems to be able to catch anything. It's a good thing you know where and how to use it. Is the Clark Spoon better for trolling that a bucktail? You're lucky you live in Florida. It's in the 40's up here on a nice day and there aren't many fish around this time of year. Avi reeled in a lot of fish on this trip. I'm happy to see you two have fun together. Say "Hi' to Avi, Bijoux and Bella. Hope everyone's well. I'll talk to you on Thursday. Mickey
@SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing
@SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Mickey thanks for taking out time to stop by and chat with me. Always makes my day better to hear from you. The Clark spoons are super effective they're just as good as bucktails you just have to make a choice as to what you're going with. I knew in this area that the barracudas were very vicious on the start of the day but regardless having that little piece of wire the fish were still hitting it anyway. Which was kind of the point of what I was trying to show when it comes to how effective the lure is. Not sure if I had the same outcome if I put wire on a bucktail jig. All the kids say "hi Mickey"... And yes Avi was killing it that day... We actually caught a lot more fish than that but the video would have been way too long. Anyway it's time to probably take a little bit of break again and get back to putting that car back together. Thanks again for everything that you've done and like I said always making my day brighter. Stay warm hope all is well with you and the family. Take care :)
@1539Mickey
@1539Mickey 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Heath, With Barracudas in the area, the metal Clark Spoon would hold up better than the bucktail. I bet they would have shredded all the hair from the bucktail and left you with a chewed up lead head. Good luck with the car repair. Take care, Mickey

Is this patch reef fishing (trolling like this video or fishing the bottom) mostly recommend the winter, or year round also?
@SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing
@SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks a million for watching and asking a great question. Patrick fishing whether you're trolling or bottom fishing can be done all year round. However the most productive time is during the fall and winter months. And I found over the years that the most productive time is during the middle of the day in juxtaposition to what you would intuitively think about offshore fishing for mahi let's say. Hope this helps. Thanks again for your support of the channel I truly am sincerely appreciate it. Tight lines & take care ;)

First time trolling soon, is there a way to estimate how much line to let out? (75-100ft) like marking the line???
@SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing
@SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing Жыл бұрын
You can do that... or you can use an average guesstimate... if you're GPS speed reads 5 knts or around 6mph you be letting out about 10 feet of line every second... so 10 to 15 seconds of letting out and you'll be up and rolling.

Hey I'm here. still alive and kicking. Been dealing with car issues, rebuilt everything but now I got random misfires... :( ... regardless then I got a huge rent hike... talking $700 a month increase... so I gotta move by the end of February. I wish I could get back on the channel and share some adventures and info, but life is in full swing right now. Once I get past these hurdles I'll be able to concentrate and start pushing out some good times again. Thanks for checking in on me... I appreciate it ;)

I here. Alive and kicking... Currently in the middle of relocating. I received a phone call from the leasing office of my complex the day after Christmas and they informed me they would be raising my monthly rate by over $700. Needless to say I was left speechless. This happened right after I had just put my car back together and got it running which is still having problems but that's a whole other story. I was actually able to get out fishing and I have a bunch of footage that I could make a video with but I am just way too busy stressed out and finding it hard to be motivated at the point to get to the editing. Once I get past this major hurdle in life of moving I will most definitely get back on it. I haven't been fishing in like 2 months. Not to include also my personal problems but I also had a couple of my kids get sick over the last 7 months so never a dull moment here. But I promise I'm not going anywhere and I'll be back at it as soon as I can. Thanks for worrying about me take care.

Everything is okay I'm still here and alive. Haven't made any videos lately because the day after Christmas my leasing office informed me they were raising my rent $700 a month so that left me with 60 days to scramble around and find a new place to live. As soon as I get through this hopefully I'll be able to get back and start making some videos and having some fun. Been quite a while since I've been fishing

Working on it boss. Caught up in the rent increase crisis. Day after Christmas leasing office informed me they were raising my rent $700 per month. So I had to scramble to get out of there. Once I get settled in, I'll be back at it. I'm still here though. Just wish circumstances were a little different. Thanks for checking in on me.
