I typically have to do some minor adjustments as shown at the start when changing between wheelsets. Per the DI2 manual, I usually shift until it's making the noise then back it off x 2. Typically works pretty well.

You can also connect your Di2 to a PC using the battery charger SM-BCR2, and that's a more economical way to reconfigure your setup.

+Simon Lawrence as long as you are using a SM-EW90 and not a SM-EW67. Although firmware upgrades with a mix of 10 and 11 speed can cause major issues. I had Ultegra 10 speed and then upgraded the RD to 11 speed. This worked fine until I upgraded the firmware and the battery would no longer talk to the system. I needed to change the FD as well and it was then okay. I did read that the SM-EW67 isn't compatible with 11 speed or the seat pin battery!

THIS VIDEO HAS 2 GLARING MISTAKES. At 2.58. He says there is no micro-adjust function for the front derailleur, but there is. Go into big/big and press the trim button. You can now trim the front der. with the left lever. At 3.25 they show the Low Limit adjuster, but this is NOT IT! It is the support screw. The low limit adjuster is to the left. If you screw this in hoping to adjust the mech, you risk pushing the screw through your frame. 86 000 people just got given the wrong info.

Thanks for correcting this huge freakin mistake on low limit bolt.... Also go big cog in back and big ring in front and micro adjust the other side on the front d. But yes, Shimano even states it as far as the hidden front micro adjust. Page 72 in the dealers manual below. Caption for page "Top position electrical adjustment". 2nd error as you said they very well could punch a hole in their carbon frame if they use the support screw and think it's the low level adjustment screw lol ! Also, if they are using a braze on mount (most do with carbon frames) then they NEED to set that toe/support/"angle* park tool install video has pic of it"> but MUST have the metal support little thingy to protect the frame if the braze on doesn't reach (most don't.) See the the park tool url below..If it did not come with your di2 d, then make one it is not hard, then; super glue it and then the screw will hold it against the frame.) Page 69 the "support bolt." Btw, the adjustment of the support toe screw is not in this dealers manual and not in the Shim tech videos lol roll eyes..... Referenced below. Also, not all models of the front D have a low level adjustment screw such as I believe Ultegra R8050 so you use the electronic micro adjust feature instead....not making the mistake to adjust the support screw that it may have and f&*king up your frame. Best is to read and watch them all most importantly the park tool one below. na.s-tec.shimano.com/module/composite/3983 si.shimano.com/pdfs/dm/DM-DA0001-09-ENG.pdf?bcsi_scan_fd86d3dd427d821e=0&bcsi_scan_filename=DM-DA0001-09-ENG.pdf Front D electronic adjust: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fnrZpIxqdtmEpqs * little metal thing is included with some models and if the braze-on is not long enough then you use this beside it behind the der. www.parktool.com/blog/repair-help/di2-shimano-electronic-intelligent-system-installation This is all you need. The wiring of di2 can be a bear to thread and get the line lengths right. Also make sure to always leave extra length at the ports on the levers (your bar tape brake lines correct and getting your ergonomics set up can cause them to pull out.) But ultimately is way better then as it will be mostly trouble free for years. Where e-tap rules is initial wireless setup. Then you have to worry about changing batteries in the levers, and charging both derailleurs much more often than shimano with just one charge per month. So you hours of work time with be countless more over the years than Di2.

There's another serious mistake at 0:42 The Shimano manual says to adjust the rear derailleur on the 5th sprocket (for 11 speed Di-2). Sprockets are counted from inside to out, so the 5th is 5th from inside, not outside, as this video advises.

Just thought I'd add a bit to this. If your Di2 drivetrain has started making noises as if it's out of alignment, I'd recommend checking to see if the hanger is straight first of all. Usually, just straightening the hanger up will return the gears to perfect working order without making any micro adjustments. Secondly, I'd check to make sure your chain isn't worn out as that can affect the performance of the gears. You don't get cable stretch or wear on DI2 cables, obviously, so bent hangers or worn parts are to be sorted before making adjustments ideally. But good video if setting up from new.

if the red rings are supposed to indicate the position of the low and high limit screws on the front derailleur, the one for the low limit screw should be more to the left. the position it is in in the video is where the the support bolt is. this could be a point of confusion

YES Di2 front derailleur can be micro adjusted. Put the bike in the big ring and the biggest gear on the cassette then press the button on the junction box then you are in adjustment mode for the front derailleur, then use the front derailleur shifter to adjust.
@lucasredois1516
@lucasredois1516 8 жыл бұрын
Hi guys, love the show however, please check the screws for the front derailleur for the upper and lower limit screws, the low limit screw you are showing is actually the "point screw" witch give the front derailleur the orientation it needs to push the chain with more ease on to the big chain ring. It is the screw next to the “point screw” witch is the low limit. Happy Rides!!!

You can also make the adjustments you mention at the end of the video with the Charging box (BCR-2), if you use the external charging junction box - i.e. with an internal battery, you only have to use PCE-1 when you have external batteries (as there is no where to plug the charging cable into the bike)

your can connect to your PC with the BCR2 box. it's the same piece used when charging. it comes with the interval di2 group. or you can buy it for around $85. works for me just fine. you should correct your video because that's very important info.

actually you can micro adjust the front mech: put the rear derailleur into the easiest gear on the back and the big ring on the front. then go into the setup mode on the junction box. now you use your front shifter buttons to micro adjust the front mech. this is just so when you cross-chain the gears it shouldn't rub, and i find that it helps the functionality of the front mech.

Di2 front mechs do need to be micro adjusted by putting the chain in the big ring-big sprocket position. When you do this and press long on the button of the junction box, you are able to micro adjust the front mech by clicking the front mech lever buttons. The derailleur needs to be adjusted so that the chain is as close as possible to the inner cage of the front mech, without chain rub.

I must be in a relatively picky mood today. At the 3:24 mark of the video, the "low" limit screw is not identified correctly by the little red circle. Simon correctly points to the low limit screw, but the red indicator for the low is actually the set screw that pushes up against the frame to hold the derailleur in place as it moves. The "high" screw is appropriately identified.

The bit about tuning the front mech is incorrect. After setting limits etc, shift to big/big combination (cross chaining) then enter adjust mode. You micro adjust the front mech until the inboard side of the cage is almost touching the chain. Job done.

Actually the super best way to make the micro adjustments is to make the adjustments WHILE YOUR RIDING!! Its super easy and takes less than 20 seconds. If your comfortable on the road your on, or in parking lot or out on a ride. You can hit the button to turn red. I like to be in the gear that is clicking or causing the problem. Make the micro adjustments (left or right) while your riding till the clicking stops. press the button to turn off the red light then shift through while your riding to verify its all working. You don't need to dismount the bike at all. if your going up a hill it's even better to test under load. That's the beauty of DI2!!

You do realize that is the test I do when I take my carbon bike out. I have no idea why people on carbons are not doing this check on critical junctions of the bike. I use a quarter tap test to hear the sound of the carbon frame on critical sections. If you ride on Canadian roads ( more like war zones) it is critical to tap test the frame regardless if you have a $7000 carbon frame or $1200 carbon due to the frame getting some major impacts. We can't ride them in the winter here they have to also be stored indoors.

I think if the jockey wheels are causing the misalignment it's probably a better idea to replace them. They're only cheap.

I'm using an ultegra di2 R8050, how do l keep my rear dereileur from shifting automatically from the 34 teeth cog to 32 teeth cog? I seems that it always shift from the lowest gear(34t) to the 2nd lowest gear(32t) automatically after about 15secs.

The rear derailleur is shifting poorly only from the easiest gear to the second easiest gear. When I set up in the middle it is not a problem. Is there a way to adjust the (easiest) inner most gear?

check if your deraileur hanger is not bend. if all looks fine, is setup correctly and still does not really work, i would recommend tryying another casette.
