@@daneguitarist1 Where did you buy the string? Im sure its a cheap string. Where did you buy your Esraj or Dilruba? if its the one that came with it when you bought 9 time out of 10 its not that great. Ive been playing for many years and havent broke any playing strings yet. all mine are the original. I didnt change the string because I moved out of my country and dont have that particular string anymore. Aslo that string low pa is mainly for resonance so not really effecting the overall sound.

2:42 This Low String actually popped so you may have to replace it. They make amazing Esraj Strings that'll sound amazing on this instrument and the Ellora Strings are amazing they even have a Tuning Chart you can use. Actually it's supposed to be ma Sa Pa Sa (or Fa Do Sol Do in Solfedge) like the 1st 4 playing strings on a Sitar.

4:21 If you've ever tuned the frets on a Sitar before it's the same thing for the Esraj and Dilriba and even the Taus which is a Peacock version of those instruments.

It's the same tuning as a Sitar but you use a Bow, I use a Cello Bow because it allows me to play Choral arrangements of songs such as a Carpenter's Christmas arranged by Roger Emerson
@RockStarOscarStern6342 жыл бұрын
0:40 The Dilruba has up to 7 extra Sympathetic Strings that run all the way up to the headstock, they're attached to tuners that run down the center of it and they also pass over a Jawari Bridge so that when they vibrate they buzz so they'll sound like a Sitar. Some of them have 6 playing strings.
@RockStarOscarStern6342 жыл бұрын
The bridge on the Esraj and Dilruba has a Radius to it just like the instruments in the Violin family because it allows you to play each string individually with the bow.

@@zorawarsingh9326 if you have instagram, send me a message on there and send me a pic of your Dilruba and the bridge. As to the question on your bow, yeah you could try to make sure it has enough Rosin. and you could try putting a little more weight to the bow against the string. You can bow a little harder that may help also double check to make sure your not bowing with extreme angles. Check out my Bowing Video Lesson #2 if you havent seen it yet

Which scale generally should we tune the instrument
@learnesrajdilrubaonline10882 жыл бұрын
You can tune to the tonic of C-E depending on the instrument and its capacity. as far as the frets keep it like mine as you see in the video.

It has frets just like a Sitar which are moveable so you can temper each note of the Chromatic Scale to be more in tune depending on the key you're playing in. This is a really old idea that came from western instruments like the Lute and Viola da Gamba so yeah another East meets West instrument.
