"We gonna install turbo kit coz its not too hard..." proceeds to dismantle entire engine.
@H-M-786 жыл бұрын
You can do it by yourself pretty easy by using rear&front pit stands and a quite common motorcycle/atv-lift under the engine with a flat surface by removing the oil pan, oil pickup, regulator and front wheel, then a piece of plywood to protect gasket surface. Then lowering and steer the engine out of the frame. (Hayabusa)

More space doesn't exactly mean more power. Raising the cylinders gives you less compression ratio, which means less detonation under boost. That's why turbo pistons don't have as much casting over the crown. It's also why boosted engines should use higher octane fuel.

the "spacer" is mounted to lower the compression rate , when you turbo an engine you need to lower the compression because the turbo is changing the entire power curve / engine characteristics . N/A engines produce the maximum power at almost peak level rpm . turbo boosts the power in the lower rpm up until mid range rpm .
@jediknight12945 жыл бұрын
It isnt anything to do with your idea of how power delivery works, something you should probably do some more reading on in any case. the reason you lower compression is because the forced induction increases pressure inside the cylinder by increasing the amount of air inside it. This means that you are risking knock and detonation running more than a 2-3psi of boost. To counter this you reduce the engines compression either with a spacer changing the strokexbore ratio, or changing the pistons or both also changing the octane of fuel can help but thats very temp and altitude dependant. This allows you to keep the cylinder pressure within the safe limits to avoid detonation/knock as you raise the amount of boost you want to use.

Answer for everyone, who questions the translation of the torque wrench / moment wrench. In Finland we call the torque wrench as ”momentti avain” which translates straight to english as ”moment key” When that’s wrong, we translate it english as ”moment wrench” And for example, car has 300NM torque, as you say in english. We say: car has 300NM torque moment, translated from finnish term ”vääntömomentti”. So Torque in finnish = Vääntömomentti and Vääntömomentti in english = Torque Moment. Simple, right? 😉✌🏼

Did some one ask how much boost? And are you comfortable keeping stock pistons and rods? I am thinking of doing this on mine.
@jediknight12945 жыл бұрын
300hp on a gen2 should be fine on stock pistons, much more and id upgrade them. Don't take my word as Gospel, go speak to someone with experience obviously though..
@peterherrington33003 жыл бұрын
Pistons will be fine . Rods are the weak spot. Gen 2 valve gear is also shite. I learned the hard way. 300 horse should be about 8 psi .

cool build. not only slapping a turbo kit on a stock engine, but actually reducing compression and rebuilding the engine.
@mikezach39196 жыл бұрын

Very good work guy's. That was very impressive work. You all work very well together. Slowly and carefully. Very methodical. I personally was very impressed. That must be quite nerve racking taking it all apart. People overlook the cleaning part. This is most important. Thank you very much for this very informative full video. Well done guy's, well done!

A most enjoyable video. I am eternally jealous of folks who can tear a bike down and build it back. With that said, I have a question: Other than the stock parts that were removed and replaced, do you ever have other parts (bolts, etc.) that might have been 'forgotten'?
