Loved your video. Perfect example being an inspiring person. Your daughter must be proud of you. For the cut of the slats to form the lid, a good tool would be a reciprocating saw. Much safer than the circular saw and doesn't require the pilot hole from the drill.

How do you get the water from the melted ice out?

I drilled holes at the bottom so it leaked out into the grass but you could just roll it over to empty it when you’re done.
