I quite literally just use regular nail polish on my cleaned natural nails and wait for a couple of minutes for it to dry. And then apply the clear top coat on top of that and cure. It comes out beautifully. And it’s long lasting through showers, swimming, yard work and doing dishes. :)

I'm here because I'm not a nail tech, but I am very cheap. This video successfully taught me how to do the very thing it's advertised for. I have an LED lamp that won't cure the gel color polish I have, but will cure my base and top coat. I was skeptical at first, but two baths and a night of doing dishes later, my nails have not chipped or become compromised. This is probably one of my favorite hacks of all time.

Excellent suggestion. It’s better than buying a specialist gel mixer (the most popular that works is £20 per bottle called Hydracol). It’s basically the same formula with a hyped price tag. Mixing is easier and much more convenient than waiting for a long time for standard nail polish to dry. I’ve heard people say they’d rather buy the gel polish colour but, sometimes it’s not possible to find the colour you love in a gel polish. Also, it’s a great way to revive your favourite standard polish colour and it’s also great to avoid wasting standard polish colours you can’t be bothered with because they’re not convenient like gels because you have to wait for them to dry.

Thanks for posting. I have so many bottles of regular polish and I just don't use them anymore because of the drying time. Life is way too busy to be sitting around waiting for polish to completely dry. Definitely going to try this :)

you don't have to mix, just paint gel base coat, then paint with cheap polish, do 2 coats, then once dry add the gel and cure, then gel top coat and,cure

Lol regular polish doesnt paint on like gel
@j9collins1864 жыл бұрын
And it takes way too long to dry that way. If it's not completely... completely dry, it wrinkles. This way you don't have to wait for the nail polish to dry. They also sell a product called Hydrocol that turns any polish to gel, but it costs almost $30.

An easier method is just cure the base coat, wipe off the sticky layer, apply the regular nail polish, dry, then apply top coat and cure. Belly sandwich!:)

Snow White if your getting wrinkles then the application is probably to thick. Try thinner coats. It's not easy with that gel polish. I pretty much have to wipe everything off the brush then just take what I need so I can control it better. Hope that helps!

I don't always like the bright or opaque gel colors, but I love all the variations/shades/tints of regular polish, so I like this idea. I can have the best of both worlds, whatever my mood.

It would cost hundreds of dollars to rebuy my entire polish collection in gels. I can't speak for everyone but I think that's probably why most people watching this video would be interested in this method. I'd hate to spend a bunch of money when I've got tons of polishes not getting used.

Acetone should never be used
@lenailtiquenoireinc.8077 жыл бұрын
Unless you're removing the product
@maranathagape7 жыл бұрын
ONLY - Alcohol or gel residue remover when working with gel polish!! It's what's causing the lumpy/bumpy effect. (Acetone stays on the surface and soaks into the pores on the nail, even after it seems dry). Acetone also chemically interacts with your regular nail polish, making it "clot". Also, the method of mixing won't result in even mixing of the two products. You'd be better off using a painter's palette knife to ensure evenness. Use the right brush to apply the mixed polish. That little detail brush will leave streaks and bumps because it's not designed for wide area coverage. Right Tools, Right Materials & Right Method = Right End Product! 💞 💅 🌺 Heidi R.

Thanks for the video!!! I tried this technique and works great, however, i find it really hard to take this mix off the nails. It doesn’t come off like the ones I get at the manicure. Did you have the same problem?
@NailArtByKathleen5 жыл бұрын
Hi! I do find that whenever I do my own nails, it takes me about twice as long as when I work on my clients. But I figure that's because I can only work on one hand at a time. When soaking off gel polush, just make sure you lightly file or buff the top coat to remove the shine. And then soak in acetone. I use 100% pure acetone. Thank you for watching!

I just started doing my own gel polish at home. I actually did a video about it! However, the Gelish polish I bought was lumpy and half dried out! My nails were bumpy at the end. I returned the expensive gel polish today and got my refund. I'm trying your method to save a lot of money and hassle, thanks! I just subscribed and liked. A lot!

+HipFit SoooGood Thank you so much! I've never had that issue with Gelish. I'm wondering if you possibly bought a counterfeit. I've seen a lot of that online. But good for you for returning it!
@sippigrrrl7 жыл бұрын
HipFit SoooGood Try CND. REAL CND. Not the eBay stuff; they have the legit stuff on Amazon, it’s kind of pricey, but it’s worth every penny. Lastly, do your nails the way that the manufacturers intend for you to do them, and your results will be amazing. If you can’t afford to buy gel polish and/or it’s too much “money and hassle” to keep doing, may I offer a suggestion? Vinylux by CND is a regular nail polish (as in, no light needed) but when you use the Vinylux polish with the Vinylux top coat, you can very easily get 5-9 days of wear out of that one manicure! And, best of all: no soaking! Just use acetone and your nails are ready for the next color. I urge you to give it a shot… I was trying all of these weird gel/polish concoctions to try to avoid all of the steps (okay, the soak-off) and even though I did end up getting a really nice lamp, and I know how to properly use gel polish on my nails now, I am not “properly trained” on the procedure, and I feel most comfortable using a product that isn’t going to have a very real potential to screw my nails up if I don’t apply the product right. Please be careful!

It takes forever for regular polish to dry sometimes, and if it’s not completely 100% dry, it will wrinkle under the gel top coat. This alleviates that altogether.

@NailArtByKathleen6 жыл бұрын
Hi. I shared this technique because there was a time that I had about 1000 bottles of regular polish and only about 20 bottles of gel polish. Quality gel polishes cost a lot more, so it makes having a good variety hard to obtain. Nowadays, you can find gel polish much cheaper. But if you have that one favorite color, but can’t find it in gel, you can still wear it like a gel. Thank you so much for visiting my channel. 😊
