Thank you!! I practiced this for about 20 minutes after watching and it instantly improved my stability, while using even less effort than I usually use to turn out. I admire your knowledge of dance and kinesiology, thank you for passing it on.

Hey y'all! Turnout used to be one of my biggest insecurities as an aspiring professional dancer, and I can empathize with how frustrating it is to struggle with it! I am very excited to share this video with you, and I can't wait to hear of how it helps some of you! Comment below what your take aways are from the video and what other areas of technique you'd like for me to cover in future videos! I also wanted to mention that I know there are many other approaches to how to turnout "properly" according to different schools of thought, so know that this is what I've learned primarily from my training at the Houston Ballet Academy and the University of Utah. If you feel a different approach works better for you, that is ok! Though I don't claim to be the perfect physical example (be nice please!😊) as it's been a long time since I've taken a class for myself let alone danced professionally, I know that these concepts have absolutely transformed the line of my legs, my ability to stay on balance and let go of excess tension, as well as my ability to hold my rotation when I was dancing full-time. I hope that these concepts that I learned over two decades of training help you tremendously in your journey! 💕

Hey, new subscriber here. I'm a street dancer, specifically KRUMP, Break-Dance, and a few other styles. It's not something I do professionally [yet] but at the moment it's more of a hobby and an interest in dance overall. I just came across your channel and this is my first time looking at anything Ballet related. I've never really looked at ballet as a dance worth knowing about considering me judging it by face value based on movies etc, but watching this video I now know how stupid my judgement was and how important ballet is to dance overall. I'll be keeping an eye out out for future videos of yours, I'll even consider watching your previous videos to get better understandings of things you speak about. Thank you for your dedication!

More people need to see this. This is the best I have seen turnout explained.

I'd like to speak about rolling on the inside of the foot. So basically connecting the topic of turnout and placement from this video to correct placement of the feet. :) Another topic I like to gain deeper inside in is how to address the sensation of pulling up. This sentence is repeated continuously but how to achieve the correct muscles engagement without restricting breath is a problem for me. Thank you for this helpful video!

This is, by far, the best video I’ve ever found regarding turnout. Thank you for the long, detailed explanation! (Please get the body mike for future videos in the studio to better the sound quality)

Great video! Thought the audio was a little off at times - something you might want to look into.

It's because of the room she's in with the hollow sound. It's more of a mic quality thing, placing a cover on the mic may help depending on what the mic is.

Tysm!! 💕 This video helped me a lot! My "turnout" kept the same as before, but I knew something about it was wrong... This helped me realize that I was actually mostly turning my legs from the knees down (I kinda knew it but didn't know how to stop it and turn my legs correctly), so this probably prevented me from a couple injures hahahah

Yayyy the idea that this could save you from injuries makes me so so happy!
