When I first got in, they only had the buckles on the front, which for me being a smaller guy, sucked. Then the new ones came around with the zippers which fitted me way better. The unpadded shoulders used to kill me, then I figured I’d cut some isomat, glue and sew it to the under side of the shoulder straps. Felt like a completely new rig after that simple modification. Plus, it added extra padding/comfort when I had my ruck on over it. Been out for like 15 years now, but thinking of purchasing a set just in case this world gets a little more crazy...

You should get a tripod and make a video of you getting a FLC and breaking down the process as you are doing it. I have ran a FLC for years in the military and patriot world however, I never seen this set up before and I’m thinking I want to try it.

Ammo, mags, grenade, medical, and water source. Everything you need for an immediate fight, not an op. It can fit even more if you need it to.

I did the same thing with the belt on an FLC I got for $12 years ago. Since I carry a lot of mags, I'm able to bridge mag pouches across the zipper and keep the pouches on. I had to laugh when I watched this because I thought "wow, someone had the same idea as me with the belt. I like it much better with it modded like that.Easy on, grab the rifle it's set up for, strap on my pistol belt, and I'm combat ready. My only gripe with the FLC is that it's hard to carry the large drugs/medications bags and an MFAK pouch big enough to be a full trauma kit that will actually stop the bleeding and keep you breathing if you or a buddy catches a round and you need to save a life ( followed up with a good dose of serious pain killers, and not the boo-boo kit most people call an IFAK, with some bandaides, gauze pads and, well, you've seen what I mean I'm sure, great for a skinned knee and fucked if you catch a round, break a bone, etc....... Cool to see that somebody had the same idea for the belt

Agree! By setting up the FLC, this way, it's a game changer!

USMC Vet we are issued these. When I got out I grabbed a few to have around the house never turned one into a chest rig k will be doing this but honestly I’ve never had an issues with adjusting or just running it as a plain ol LBE vest. Great gear inexpensive and tough as nails. You can grab the drag handle and drag a 180 lbs dood with easy love cheap inexpensive milsurp gear like this everyone who is a “minuteman” type should have one or even a few of these they are super modular I have kits to make DMR setups, regular AR-15 setups and shotgun loads hell I even have a “squad lead” setup that k just use to run my beretta m9 with extra admin pouches

Ended up with with what I’m assuming is an early version with a molle belt around the waist and some Alice style adjustment straps in the back. I also acquired molle to Alice adapter plates. I centered the adapter plates in the back and attached an Alice buttpack, using the aforementioned FLIC adjustment straps to support the buttpack keeping it from flopping backwards. I then flanked the buttpack with two molle Nalgene water bottle carriers. I was trying to make a civilian survival vest and the setup worked okay for that purpose, but the front could certainly be adapted to a magazine carrying load. I had an excess number of molle frag grenade pouches. They will hold a Vortex Laser rangefinder, but the dust intrusion sucked so I switched out for a zipper pouch. I also found that a frag grenade pouch fits exactly two cans of Copenhagen, but ya’ll probably figured that out already. During testing I thought the width of the vest negated the need for padded shoulders, but in use it got heavy and everything went back in an Alice pack (molle straps and waist belt).

I've always actually liked them. I use the clips in the front though and no zipper. So, still an easy adjustment. For some reason I just like the MOLLE going across the back. But, maybe it's because I do like my waste pack secured the whole way behind me...IDK...Also OCD and will wear mine higher up on my body too. As a cool note...my kids are 19, 11, 9, and 7. I was amazed that, as long as I clamp the section across the upper back, I could get these to even fit my 7 year old daughter. Sooooo...nerf rival loadouts 😂😂😂

+Jason Scwartz A better option to FLCs, really, is the RACK vest. Much better, carries more stuff. I have an old Tru-Spec RACK vest set up for .308, it was set up for AK-47/AKM before I got a Russian "Vest Alpha" and Spetsnaz tactical vest designed and built around the AK. It's cool that you are introducing your kids to guns and gear starting young. I started young as well, and weapons handling is a very important skill set to have. Sounds like your kids have a good dad :)

1st lol, it was meant to go over a pasgt vest or the otv/interceptor if you have ever seen one of those vests you would understand the why it's made the way it is with a padded belt and non padded shoulders they have a "method for the madness"

@Wandering_Grunt4 жыл бұрын
The buckles actually negate a lot of the problems that I have with the zippers. They're not bad.
@jasonschwartz94814 жыл бұрын
@@Wandering_Grunt agreed. I just picked up a few of these off of a guy for $5.00 a piece...basically, my kids are going to learn young how to handle themselves in this insane world. But, yeah, as soon as I adjusted mine I instinctively just went for the buckels. Those zippers are nice, but a pain in the ass. Especially when grabbing gear quickly.
@jasonschwartz94814 жыл бұрын
Nitro, honestly just buckle. Or, these things can be found dirt cheap as they last forever. Hell, I just got all of the attachments for a typical rifleman "assault pack" load (including the waist pack and patrol pack with a nice added water bladder lol) for a total of $38 plus the FLC that only cost me &5.00.
@hellcatdave14 жыл бұрын
The original ones are buckles only, the "upgrade" (zippers) program by big army started after the transition to UCP I believe.

Makes little sense to me... The FLC is already a Chest Rig/Vest. What it looks like is that your just creating more hotspots in the front... Its also kinda of wierd to say its easier to take off Unless you are wearing a backpack at all time its much easier to doff something thats Jacket like rather than having to put something over your head espeacially if you have a helmet on. Idk this just seems like bad advice... but if it works for you whatever.

So you are firmly in the "Can't save the world if you aren't color coordinated" camp huh? LOL I can see the usefulness of this mod but it also has some downsides. You loose the weight of canteens/butt pack on the rear counter balancing the weight of mags/ammo in front.
