As a civilian I use it as s safety vest replacement since the ones provided in my job really suck. I use it to hold my tools, radio and cellphones (personal and company). Since is not safety complaints, I just add some 1 inch wide fluorescent webbing in the front, rear and sides. It performs really well . I can carry all I need and if need to expand I just buy some pouches in Ebay and modify to make it work. wonder why is not more popular as a tool holder/carrier among civilian contractors or technicians who have to carry a multitool or a Fluke tester and few screwdriver around in a factory or processing plant.

I remember when i reclassed to a scout and got set to the Iraqi surge, one of the senior scouts showed me the second configuration on the old UCP MOLLE vest, ever since then i always did that until i got that more high speed MOLLE gear. I rarely bought any non issued Army stuff unless it was to make it more comfortable for me.

I used to have an old FLC years ago and I set it up like your 2nd configuration so that it would be more like a chest rig. I much prefer the RACK vest when it comes to U.S.-made chest rigs, but for someone just figuring out what load carrying methods they prefer, they could do worse than a FLC ( like spending $30 and more for a Chinese-made Condor chest rig when they could have genuine U.S. military gear for cheaper ;) ). All the mods and configurations you show are better than wearing a FLC as it comes. I liked being able to bridge pouches across the ( always up after upgrade ) zipper so I could mount more gear. I didn't have an issue with the vest interfering with my pistol belt and the stuff on it. I adjusted it to ride like all of my chest rigs and tac vests, with the base of the vest at the middle of my belly button, and I use regular military pistol belts. Cool video, it would have made adjusting everything to my preferences a lot easier. A buddy of mine that was in the Marines finally said "Hey man, want me to show you a much better way that you'll like a lot better?" He helped me get everything just like I like it and I was just starting to really dig it when it got packed into a box among many boxes and I haven't seen it since. After I die, someone will probably find it in my garage in a box under a bunch of junk, still configured like that

I really appreciate you taking the time to make videos on all these different systems. I am former Army and picked up some old kits from surplus that i used to use, but its been so long since I've set one up it's nice to hear someone go through the different options again. I was a POG when I was in, but I am definitely getting more into the kit setups and preparedness as a civilian especially with everything going on lately in cities.

I like the FLC. Especially when you config it with the buckle behind you, making it into a chest rig, it's honestly pretty sweet. Similar to TAPS, but I think TAPS only shines when you clip it to your IOTV or PC. I tried the battle belt method while crossing the back straps into an "X" behind my back, but I didn't like it because the front portion of the vest would always drop and hang low whenever I had to bend or lean forward. One time it even smacked my casualty in the face while I was training on how to use a SKED. Lol but the battle belt was nice if only for the placement of the dump pouch. Regardless, back to the 2nd configuration and it's stuck with me since. Thanks for the vid.

IDEA! For split FLC and battle belt, you can 1. Weave paracord back and forth in the MOLLE slots in the lower inner edges of the back flap, pull to size and secure with one or more cord lockers! OR... 2. Use a pouch you want in the middle and weave like above from each side of the pouch to the flaps in back of the FLC! Everyone has a spare pouch!! Now every FLC comes with a free Battle Belt!!! Party On!!!🎉🫡

A few different ways to run it is to ditch the belt completely and instead for the rear strap use a length of 1”-2” wide elastic webbing and; 1. Sew it on to one side and use a buckle on whatever side you’re going to put it on from. 2. Use a buckle on each side. 3. Use triglides and keep the rear closed off and use the front in the split configuration.

I got one and it still seems like the old school lbv with the flc war belt is the better system. You lose a few pouches, but it is easy on and easy off. Am i missing something? Cause im pretty much stuck in this set up with that drag handle and the war belt seems like it should be connected in some way for support. I'd appreciate any advice in running this effectively in the two piece configuration. We had h harnesses and lbvs when i was in maybe thats why i still gravitate to that.

Hi! Really enjoyed this content! I recently happened across 3 x Gulf War British (shhhh, I know), Osprey vests with 9 pouches each for $39 ea. I bought two for buddies, and we will set them up like this. I love the suspension from the full netted vest, and extra MOLLE all over the Osprey back. I love getting close to the ground, despite what others say. Being a 48G3 AF, I didn't hump that much after training, but set up with load bearing belt, buttpack, M9 and M4 and small Alice or Recce/LBT pack (to fit over or instead of my Aircrew Survival vest, since it only had kit for 30 min anyway!) in case I got shot down on the helo. As aircrew, we almost always put the MOLLE plate pistol holster just to the left of the midline upper chest, at 45 deg down for access, and cleared the tucked chin, so the M9's hammer wouldn't bite you in the jaw. Rarely ran a drop leg... PJs did though. We trained to reconfigure our ANVIS 4949s to ground config with head straps, cuz we didn't expect to run the flight helmets, or later "Darth Vader" helmets stuck on the ground! Great content! Thank you!!! 🫡

Unfortunately there are still leaders in the military that require the use of it. It comes down to either help square away the dudes that have to use it so they are more capable with what they have or leave them to suffer until their leadership get pushed out because of their narrow mindedness. You choose! We both agree it’s not a great system but knowing how to set it up is going to set you up for success in the future by helping others and if you ever have to resort back to it you know how to make it work and give yourself the edge ;) ! The point is to aid the viewers in configuring their FLC in a manner that’s best suited for their application. You also don’t need a team mate to buckle the back of you configure it that way unless you’re fat. At the end of the day it’s shooters preference there’s no right or wrong way to set this thing up. There’s a guy on Instagram that’s isolated different ways to build the FLC that we’re inviting to film with and he’s doing a lot of other stuff that’s really impressive. So be open minded about kit because you can do some really incredible things with it if your willing to take the time and get creative with it

I added #5 but it has bearing. 6 the greatest sin is envy. 7 see rule #5. #6 leads to I want shiny new stuff. #8 lay off the caffeinated snacks until they're needed. LOL, yooboob is full of folks that remind me of why you don't allow tweakers access to paint, saws, or automotive tools. Like Paracord rifle slings. When you need the cord, now you have no sling.
