Just wondering if the cam will switch on automatically when the engine is running ( cam has a battery on it.). When the engine is off, will it switch off on its own?

@@louiemacni6069 if you connect it to a switched power supply it will start recording when you turn on the power and there is an option to power off when you switch off the power OR if you don't select that option it will continue recording on the internal battery.

@@tguarino5430 that's how I control mine. I have my old phone setup on the dash and have it powered all the time. You can monitor what the camera sees to help you point it and you can change the settings through the app. I'm using an old iPhone but I believe they have the app available on android also. @@onlymyopiniontech bought the insta360 right before the sale ended then thought the best thing since i will use my phone for google map directions was to go ahead and breakdown and buy the gps watch & that way i can control & watch it per say best we can while driving in the mountains. So probably would've got a better bundle deal with the sale but such is life. Thank you so much. Do you usually record in 4K/60 or 4K/30 for road trips i am sure the 30 saves more sd card space? This is all new to me but I really want to create travel content :)

does the Ace Pro have a GPS, don't see it listed in the specs. I'm leaning towards the X3 n wondering if it can do the overlays. hopefully they r in the app

Sorry for the slow response, I didn't see a notification. It does not have GPS so you have to get that through your phone GPS and the app or with the remote. It's supposed to work with the Garmin and Apple Watch. I'll try it on the x3 and see if it works.

Thanks! Your x3 will work for that. You can use it for 360° video or you can just use one lens to look out the front. Maybe I should do a video on that too.

Thanks, it's made by Shokz. It is just a Bluetooth mic I use with my phone. It won't work with the stock iPhone camera. I use Filmic Legacy to record on my phone and there are a couple of other apps that will work with Bluetooth. It's a bone conduction headset. I really like it. I can wear it all day and it doesn't bother me. If you do get one be sure to get the one with the boom. It puts the mic closer to your mouth and works much better than the model without the boom. I'm very close to buying the 360 x4 so does it have a built on setting to click on saying "dashcam"? This looks totally amazing and a no brainer to buy. Are the visuals for speed etc built into the camera setting? Thank you good video

I haven't looked at the specs on the X4 yet. On the Ace Pro you have to use an external source for the GPS information. I normally use my old iPhone to control the camera and it gets the GPS info from there. You can also use the Insta360 remote, Apple Watch or I'm told a Garmin watch. @@Blackirish__ yes, I have a series 9 and it handles the app and camera just fine. I prefer to use my old iPhone 11 mainly since I'm in the truck all day I can leave it plugged into power.

Sir, how many batteries come in the box with Ace Pro? Also, how long can a single 100% charged battery last while recording 8k video? your video is very impressive and i am planning to buy same camera with accessories.

You just get one battery with the camera. I got one hour and 15 minutes of continuous recording @ 8k. I tested some aftermarket batteries I was really happy with. Here's a link to how I tested them. I like dashcam mode, but it should be said that you also need to power on the Insta360 remote to have telemetry, and that the remote doesn’t start automatically when you start your engine. Or you have to use an app on your iPhone to record a GPX track and to do the Telemetry Overlay in a program with the same name. This will give you more options, like a real moving map. Problem is I often forget to start the GPX recording or the remote or the app on the iPhone resulting in a video without telemetry.

Good point that I should have included. I normally use the app on my phone to trigger the camera since it's more convenient. I actually use an old iPhone and its only purpose is to control the camera. I didn't think very many people would be overly interested. But I still should have included a little more detail. I don't know on the x3 but the Ace Pro has a setting so it will power on and record by supplying power to the USB-C port.

@@conman20000 not like a actual dashcam would. You could do a time lapse with a really slow frame rate but it would stay in that mode even if the car gets bumped. I wouldn't suggest using this in place of an actual dashcam. I think for people that want to use it to document their travels and don't have a dashcam or want higher quality travel documentation would be a better option. For vacation travelers you can record things along the way just by having it in this mode then take it as an action camera when you stop. Thanks for stopping by.
