The content of this channel is not good. It's excellent! Great tutorials, and you have a very pleasant presentation style. You deserve so many more subscribers! On that note, I think the channel needs a little extra in terms of recognizability. Like Andrew Huang's little high-five at the beginning of each video. Or a less generic graphic design profile (right now it's professional, but a tiny bit boring). A little gimmick of sorts, that sets you apart. Because, like I said, the content itself is excellent. I've already learned so much from you. 😍

Hi. I’ve been watching a lot of your video’s a lot lately along with video’s of Alex Rome. You both have given me different ideas to use in my own music that I have never thought about using before. I’ve always just played my own chords for my accompaniments. Now you have contributed ideas of helping my change how I am going to use new chords and rhythms in the future. I appreciate this very much. I’ve been a person that has had problems with finishing my songs. Now I have a learned a few new approaches to what I plan to do differently with some of my music. Thank you so much for sharing your ideas with you listeners and viewers. I wish you continued success with all of your projects in the future. Thank you again for sharing. Have a wonderful day.

I rarely watch youtube music production videos over 10 minutes but when I do it's always EDM tips! Hands down my favorite channel not just because of the content, but how concisely everything is explained (included the EDM tips courses) As always, well done Will! As you mentioned, it's so incredibly important to 1) not get caught up in a perfectionist attitude when writing or arranging 2) get your ideas laid out fast by consistently finishing tracks (run that faucet until it runs clear), and my personal favorite 3) using a reference track for arrangment/mixing/mastering/composition as you mentioned (pink noise for mixing is also a game changer). If I feel like I reached a wall after 30-60 minutes I'll take a break and come back to it later that day or the following day which usually fixes everything...no sense it trying/forcing to make something work. It's ironic that some of my favorite melodies/progressions etc. I wrote only took only a few minutes to make usually when I first sat down at the beginning of the session. Those were my major hangups, and now I've been able to finish tracks much faster (even if I only make the time to work on them a little bit each day), almost finish my first EP, and even got featured on a few channels by putting mostly what I learned from your channel/courses into practice. Thanks again! Shameless plug: open.spotify.com/artist/4rdRfwxYmZCRnpD4S2qCN9?si=utpNclQ4TPORo7u8C10HEg

This is exactly what I wanted to see from content I've paid for (but didn't get it). I've been watching a few of your videos the past evenings and they are fantastic! So much out there covering how to make an 8 bar loop, but rarely do they tell you how to turn it into a song (which is far harder). I know you covered automation at the end, but it would be great to see a full video about how you can use lots of different automation techniques to make a song more interesting - maybe make this song ten minutes long with lots of different automations to keep interest. You may have done this (I will search), but I thought I might as well throw up a request ;)

Also sometimes a sound is what inspires you to create an arrangement therefore if you pick a placeholder lead you might not be inspired to continue it in the first place, So is picking sounds crucial at the beggining to certain extent? And in general why essentially it is important to work quickly and finish songs quickly ?
@EDMTips4 жыл бұрын
To the first point: absolutely! Depending on your inspiration, your workflow will switch around. To the second: because the more songs you finish, the better you get, and the less likely to are to never finish them.
@Y0nex4 жыл бұрын
@@EDMTips i see, Thanks! Btw Could you recommend some more similar videos in this topic on other channels you know aswell? Btw what would you do in a situation where the sound selection is a crucial part of the arrangement for example certain drum samples that give texture to a song and if you use a placeholder it might completely be changed to a different song later on since the drums can sometime dictate where the song is going? Same goes for instruments, if you pick a harsh sound for a melody and build the arrangement around it, you might later on want a softer sound for the same melody and it can completely change the context of the arrangement, Or sometimes even when it comes down to mixing as you go, if you won't mix as you go it might change the context afterwards,Would glad to hear your opinion on those kind of situations, Also would really appreciate to see a series from you of which you breakdown other musicians song's arrangement structure mixing, etc , Have a good day!!

@@Y0nex That's a lot of questions! Here I go: 1. Just KZbin search - there are a few 2. Then I would adjust my workflow. It's never exactly the same for each track. 3. This is why having an idea of the direction of the track early on makes life a lot easier. Doesn't always work out that way, but I wouldn't start the arrangement until the vibe and idea was solid enough to know it wasn't going to drastically change. 4. Good idea! Making a loop a song. Have a aim. Once you create a loop of a beat have a aim do you want it to be pop or r&b ? Choose that first before moving forward. And just have an general idea for the loop before making the song. Add other loops to the loops to make the loop sound more complete. See what works play around with premade loops To make a chord skip a note and place a note within the key of your song If you use vocals for your song find ones that is in your key like "g minor" or whatever and adjust the tempo if it doesn't match the loop Or create your own vocals for your loop and build the song from that Then you can move that track to the back and work on the intro
