I think VNI is much easier to use and I installed Laban Vietnamese keyboard on my cellphone (on my laptop I used the Windows Vietnamese input) and most of my Vietnamese friends use VNI and Laban also. However what is best for you is the one to use :) . Nice and helpful video.

on a smart phone find the keyboard settings. Android and iPhone already have it. on an old t9 system (eg: nokia) you need to make sure that your phone supports it. If not,then just buy one here in Vietnam and you're all set. Also many vn people don't add the accents when they type in old systems like that (non -smartphones)
