@@kjellrode2434 Me too. My kitchen wall line meets my bathroom sink wall line, then they go down both, and both clog, ever couple months, LOL. Am slowly going through the steps, and this video is starter. With two lines, both sinks, both meeting, both clogging, every couple months, snaking the common down line I guess is the trick, still fingers crossed this long range "works" or it's just a repeat problem. THIS VIDEO is beginner, doesn't get into snaking the wall line(s) which converge and clog, LOL.

Thanks for taking the time to make the video. Truly appreciate the value it brings to homeowners. I would give two pieces of constructive feedback, not criticisms at all. 1. Use gloves. Trust me, I'm not trying to be a nanny here, but just giving a public service announcement to anyone watching this. Drain and waste lines are the nastiest, most bacteria-ridden places in a home. You crack open a drain line & you are exposing yourself to a thriving colony of bacteria that is just looking for an open wound to get into and give you a serious infection. Don't handle drains or drain line content with bare hands. 2. The method shown in this video is going to work for probably 75% of vanity sink clogs and is very valuable, with good explanations. The other 25% of the clogs are going to be in the wall and will require a snake to get blockage cleared. With as clearly as you explain things, it would be a great benefit to have you show them how to properly use a snake. Again, none of this is criticism and I greatly appreciate the time you have put into your content to share. Cheers.

I appreciate your bringing up the gloves. I've seen so many of these types of videos of drain/pipe issues where to person didn't use gloves. It grosses me out even to watch. I'm always saying to the video - wear gloves!

Thanks for making this video. I put in a maintenance request at my apartment building over a month ago for my clogged drain and they still haven't came to clear it. The clog was a big wad of hair and who knows what else and it was mostly in the part where the plug was. I Don't have a man as I live alone so I'm pretty pleased I was able to do this myself! If I can do this so can anyone else!

As a female house-cleaner I have saved many of my clients time, money & energy. First step b4 removing any piping. I use my metal hook that I've made by simply bending the end of a metal bbq skewer with pliers, i insert it under the plug into the drain, all the stuff easily gets pulled out, no need to remove piping unless it is in the p-trap of wall pipe. I do this small check/clean-up every 3- 4 mnths. Easy, Effective, Economical!

Last week I had to take my bathroom sink pipe apart. The three sections had a hard cement looking buildup inside. I poured Lime A Way inside of the u shaped pipe section and let it soak overnight. I used a screwdriver and Lime A Way to clear all three sections of pipe. Now the water flows freely through my bathroom sink pipe. Thank you for sharing.

Nice video. My only suggestion would be to start with removing the plug and checking for the clog there. So often that completely solves my issues without the extra steps of removing the trap.

Most of the time when I take apart a drain I notice the pipe tubes are not debured. I always check these, and before reassembly I sand and smooth out the ends to minimize hair from catching on these ruff ends. Great video! Thanks.

The overflow from our air conditioner flows into a bathroom sink drain. Gunk builds up from that and clogs the drain at least once a year. I'm pretty sure it's not in any part of the immediate area of the sink plug or the trap, but beyond that, and the plumber uses a power driven snake at least 25 feet long. Just mentioning this because in houses that have a chronic problem with one drain, that could be the cause. They suggest putting bleach into the drain from the AC periodically to kill mold, but we're too old to mess around in the attic with bleach. In a previous house, this was an upstairs sink, and when it overflowed the first thing we noticed was water dripping through the ceiling downstairs - a nightmare! This video is very helpful for the type of problem it addresses.

This did the trick! My drain was just like his; the Drano didn't work so I just disconnected the P-trap (clog wasn't there) went up to the next pipe (clog wasn't there) and finally, the stopper/plunger (which was coated in gunk). I cleaned everything, re-assembled the 3 easy pieces and it works great. Thank you!

Very clear video, sir. One of the first times a sink drain clog happened to me I turned the drain plug so the lever was not attached to it, so that I could just pull the plug out without detaching it. Then I fashioned a small hook out of a length of wire so that I could fish clogs out of the drain. For the bath tub, the strainer that came with the plug works pretty well, but I made a shorter hook out of a paper clip that works well for pulling up hair that gets snagged around the “cross support” that the bath drain plug screws into. Haven’t kept Drano type products in the house for 20+ years.

I've taken that pop-up stopper out. I now have a stainless-steel fine mesh strainer that fits into and over the drain. I now clean any hair out on an as needed basis. No more clogs. When I want a basin of water, I use an old fashion white rubber stopper. Simple, clean, and easy. Also, I run VERY HOT water down the drain for about three to five minutes in the morning and just before bed. I haven't had a clog in 5 years, or more.

Thank you! I have a sink that needs attention every few weeks, and I'll try this method next time. (In our case it is a little more hassle, as the trap and drainpipe are crammed in behind a pedestal, but it's still doable.) One other reason not to use chemical drain cleaners, by the way, is that if they don't work completely and you still have to disconnect the trap and pipe, you (or your plumber) will have to deal with caustic liquid as well as dirty water.
