Get into shape, lean/muscular people look good in about anything.

It's good to stay in shape, for many reasons. Fashion transcends that though.

@@MrNickjberry I disagree. A fat person in a nice suit does not look as good compared to a person with a muscular physique in casual clothes. If you were to choose, would you rather hang out with Lizzo in a nice dress or a fit and athletic woman wearing a plain t shirt and jeans?

learning about fashion history makes an ourfit lookj more coherent once you learn the ins and outs of each garment, where and why they were designed. Writers like Dieworkwear go very in depth on this topic. More of an advanced tip for sure though

I agree with a lot of this, but I do think the current obsession with vintage loses some of the fun. I have vintage pieces that are awesome, but the things I love the most are things I bought new 10 years ago and now are faded, patched, rumpled etc. Its fun to see photos of me 7 years ago with the same black denim shirt I wear today. I have a couple pairs of boots that have been with me, been resold and are still going with proper care. So yes, vintage looks great, but dont be scared to get something timeless, and wear the heck out of it!

Subtlety is easier to describe than it is to find. Everything in most stores is either very basic or very ostentatious.

2nd video I've watched of yours. I'd be interested in seeing one on how to wear military surplus. Most of mine are wool pants, wool sweaters, some ny/co shirts mostly in olive green or more rare, brown. Then there are timeliness pieces like black/navy watchcap or black/navy peacoat. I do have some British/Dutch DPM jackets and shirts. I find it is better to wear a camo jacket than camo pants, but in general only 1 camo item, never multiple matching camo or mismatched camo. Solid green/brown surplus is easier to mix and match not just eras but also countries.

I’m all in on point 3 I have found on eBay sport jacket such as Ralph Lauren and Ermenegildo Zegna brands for less than $100 bucks. I just bought a RL suit just for $110 dls. Definitely go with second hand clothes 👊🏻

I like to find vintage polo's from brands that are no longer in production. Why wear that 'run of the mill' RL polo from Macy's, when you can wear one from Duck Head or Ocean Pacific? And has much more style and vibe. I also scored a vintage Wilson's leather jacket for 32$ off ebay.. MINT condition!!

This will be verbose :). This is why he mentions Timeless pieces. By timeless he means stuff that will always be in fashion (not trends) and wardrobe basics. Such as a few pair of different colored jeans, same for chinos, and dress pants. For tops u have polos, sweaters, t shirts, and button down shirts. If u stick to mostly neutral colors and stay away from extreme fits like super skinny jor really baggy clothes, things will never go out of style. Once u have the basic/ timeless clothing items u will be surprised how many different clothing combinations can work. So no need to spend a lot of money on a bunch of clothing. Much better off spending a bit more on quality stuff than it is a whole bunch of stuff. As far as “what is quality” is hard to answer as higher prices aren’t always synonymous with quality. I think most people would agree though that $300 for a designer tshirt is silly. Equally, a $5 t shirt is certainly going to feel cheap. How things fit u though is ultimately what matters most. Clothes can be expensive, that’s why he mentions secondhand clothing. People donate a lot of junk but there are also things that someone paid hundreds of dollars for that u can now get for $20 at places like the Salvation Army or Goodwill. If u prefer online, try Ebay or Poshmark. If u are clueless how to style clothes go onto Pinterest and search “men outfit ideas” or u can even be really specific “men outfits black jeans” if u want to know what might work with black jeans. This way YOU can choose what styles YOU like. There are links to clothing stores often, so it’s a good way too, of discovering new stores that might appeal to u? If you’re ever bored one day just, spend a few hours trying on a bunch of different items in your closet to see what goes well together. You will be surprised sometimes what works and doesn’t. If u like something take a selfie so u remember what went with what….because u will forget. Not mentioned often…..learn how to launder! I’ve probably ruined a thousand dollars in clothing because I ignored what’s on the tag. If it’s Dry clean only it’s just that! As far as washing, just play is safe and wash on cold and dry on low heat. Get into shape. Someone fit can make something that’s ok look good and something good look great.
