How to uninstall/install a steering column in an 82-92 Camaro/ Firebird.

I found a gem of 89 camero kept really clean with 26,000 miles . But it needs a new stearing column, i think its gonna be worth it lol .

So i bought an 82 camaro to swap out the steering columm on my 91 which my mechanic told me 350 to swap it out, but he Said it had the wrong g connector which he said he knew someone that would rebuild the one I have for 450!! Is those prices right? Or is there something else I could do?

82 and 92 column are different. 82 doesn't have cruise control and the lettering color is white, the 92 is yellow.

Do you have to disconnect anything on the shaft under the hood just to lower the column? I want to replace my ignition switch, not replacing/removing the column.

No just drop the column with 2 13mm bolts

Can't you remove that cable from the top of the column without removing the center console etc?

Front bumper cover is a pain sometimes. Rear is easy. Sides are easy besides having g to remove interior plastics to get to one nut. Behind back wheel gfx are easy. Door gfx tou have to remove door panel/door card. Not too bad

I have a 84 Z28 with a carbureted 350 I bought off of someone & I put the timing right and got it to turn on but it had the linkage wrong in the transmission cause the rear wheels started spinning so we fixed it but the next day when i went to turn it on again there was no crank at all, checked the battery, starter and everything else and they are working and have current but it still wont crank at all any ideas?

Distibutor module. Ignition control module.

I want to know where to check if there is current going to the ignition of the starter, hopefully I worded it right

I think I mean which is the wire that carries the power from the ignition key to the starter , or what wire I can get power/current to the starter

@mschanandlerbong9917 just leave the key off and jump the starter solenoid across. That will rule out if you have a bad starter.

When u are showing how to disconnect the cable that runs from the ignition switch(not the Key switch) yo the E-brake u cant see anything u are doing as with a lot of the things u were doing..The camera was pointed at the sky floor etc. Made most the video usless...
