Thanks.....my biggest GRIPE with WAVES, other than paying for them, about 60 of them in fact, is their BS Update Plan, which Barry Johns on his YT videos calls it, an Extortion Plan. His reasoning, for which I agree, is that they advertised their plugins as having a PERPETUAL LICENSE, so to me, they LIED. I just tried to open one of my songs, and I also use Studio ONE, and as it was trying to OPEN, I saw a RED colored Waves plugins, which was apparently causing the problem, and then eventually soon just CLOSED my DAW! When I went into Waves Central, I saw that I could Deactivate that plugin. SO what does that mean? Otherwise, I will either delete it, or maybe move it Inactive in the Plugin Mgr in Studio One. Either way, I am DONE with Waves purchases, and haven't bought any since probably 2022. I refuse to buy their Update plan.

Yeah, I've had Waves plugins for a very long time. I've paid for the update plan 2.5 times now. 2 full times over the many years and recently the .5 time. I've mostly moved over to UA (now that they have native versions) and Plugin Alliance plugins now and just buy them when they go on sale. I pretty much have all the ones I need now. There are a few Waves plugins that I really use in my workflow, so I did update those, but it only ended up being $60 or so. I should be good for several years again. Who knows, maybe I'll find a replacement for those too. As far the "Deactivate" option for your Waves plugin, this might be what it's referring to: www.waves.com/support/how-to-deactivate-waves-licenses

@@DadRockAndGuitars Thanks. I looked at your link. That's probably what I'll do instead of deleting them entirely, at least for now. It's probably similar to the Studio One Plugin Mgr where you can get them off your Browse list so you can de-clutter that list, but still there if you want to use it sometime in the future. I now prefer vendors that Plugin Alliance features, like Brainworx and also several of ADPTR's plugins that are very good analyzer plugins like Metric A/B and Streamliner, also their Sculpt plugin. I also have several Izotope plugins and though some of them are pricey, I've started off with the basic, then upgrade. I do have Ozone 11 Advanced that I use as my first plugin for each song in the Project Page for mastering. Their ReBalance and Tonal Balance Control plugins are also very good. Some of the Presonus stock plugins have gotten better with Version 6, more analog-style. THANK YOU! ! !

hey, man. Look. Waves's been crashing my projects now. i dont know why, was working fine till last week. i removed EVERYTHING by hand too. Surgical. I still see them on my daw. And if try to open one, Ableton live closes instantly. Been stressing over this for a week now. Please guys help. I can't reinstall them if dont get rid of the last versions. I cant format my pc, its gonna take me back months.

Sorry you’re having issues. That’s always frustrating. I’ve never used Abelton, but I’m happy to try and help.

 - Have you updated anything recently (Windows, Ableton, etc.)?

 - I don’t quite follow when you say “I can't reinstall them if dont get rid of the last versions.” Are you saying that your Waves plugins are older versions and if you use Waves Central to do the full uninstall and reinstall you’ll be forced to upgrade your plugins?

Did a little more searching around.
Sounds like the plugins you removed are still showing in Ableton. You may want to try rescanning your plugins in Ableton if you haven’t already.
