What makes you... you? How much of that can you decide?
These are the big questions we tackle in this short Life Lesson bonus episode for some ideas to percolate over the weekend and take forward with us.
From the attachment styles we learnt as children to our accents and even how we think about learning. These are all behaviours that are up to us if we choose to be proactive about how we show up in life and who we want to be.
We'll learn how to act consistently with compounding behaviours over time to build brick by brick the big changes we want to make. We'll build techniques to unlearn negative behaviours and utilise a Growth mindset to focus on positive development

I'm actually writing a "book" right now that apparently the algorithm knows about because it placed this video abnormally high on my feed. It's very much about understanding why I am how I am and how to unlearn a lot of my bad behaviours. The story about the blogger just writing in his own voice resonatted with me because I struggled with how I'd write it seeing as its a collection of other things ive already written, and that just watching my "voice" change over time really adds something to it... anyway long story short. this really connected with me, specifically today. I'm from Maine, we dont pronouce our letters either. so, thanks!

That's lovely to hear. Thanks for the detailed comment and motivation to do more of this format episode 🙃 It's funny to feel that a few ideas I was tossing around in my head one week came out as something relatable. Happy to chat book ideas if you email me. If you get it done maybe you can come on the show sometime. The actual podcast is quite big (150k downloads a month). Here on YT I'm still in the messing about and learning phase...

If I ever finish it and want to do anything with it I will definately let you know. Honestly the feedback of a stranger who knows nothing about me and has no personal stake in it would probably be very helpful. But it's still way too early to show anyone. 1: its kind of a 200 page outline; its too early for people to see what i see and 2: even just talking about it right now is triggering a *completed* flag in my brain that I'm trying to avoid so I dont lose motivation. But thanks again, kind stranger on the internet. lol

You're most welcome. And yea don't fall into feeling like you're done 🙈. Sounds like you might be a prime candidate for a recent episode called "Do the THING" - link.chtbl.com/dothething

Excellent to be aware of these kinds of important factors that play into our mood and ultimately our behavior. What a labyrinth the human psyche is. I am trying to undo my learned hopelessness, but it is difficult. I haven't had a "win" in a long time, and I'm approaching middle age after having fucked around for far too long in recent years. Cheers, mate! Thanks for the video.

You're welcome and thanks for the comment. You can turn things around at any age 😊 (Sometimes I worry for people that reach middle age without putting any time into f*****g around...)

Had to stop when you said statins are for blood pressure.

Thanks for flagging. Removed this. Frustratingly, if you Google "Do Statins reduce blood pressure" Google says yes and points to all the science confirming this (so I wasn't completely wrong). But if you Google "what are Statins for", it obviously states cholesterol or if you try "What medications are used for lowering blood pressure" then it doesn't recommend statins at all and beta blockers, ACE inhibitors, ARB inhibitors... But yes, I hate it when someone wisely gives an analogy in an area you understand and they get it wrong. I want to be a podcast that is anti-mindset bro and based on accurate science... Learning 🤓

Statins don’t maintain your blood pressure.

This section was removed earlier and just waiting for YT to complete the update. Thanks though. Technically they do help reduce blood pressure which plenty of reviewed studies confirm. However, their main purpose is cholesterol management and easier to not mention.

Thanks for the feedback. I have removed it as this is a side effect rather than their main role. Statins specifically target cholesterol as the immediate function. However, this is shown to help lower blood pressure in the long term. The National Institute of Health also specifically states that statins lower blood pressure.
