How to unlock AMD adrenaline software on AMD gaming laptops to undervolt

You can download that driver from here www.amd.com/en/support/kb/release-notes/rn-rad-win-22-5-1 Install it as a normal driver installation or you can install it as a clean installation from uninstalling the previous drivers via DDU. And don't think this will boost fps on cpu bound games like valorant. But it works very well on GPU bound titles.

I bought this laptop. Got Crucial RAM and WD SSD. It also accepts regular hard drive and SATA SSD. You will need a clip and a screw for the 2nd SSD. I used a screw off the bottom of the laptop. For the screw clip, I cut a small piece of plastic from the case the RAM came in. A little square with a hole in it. It goes over the SSD screw hole, then add the screw to keep the SSD in place. This is if you don't replace the shipped SSD, but add a 2nd one.

Hey, what's the best bios and gpu drivers for dell g5 se 5505 ryzen 5 4600h rx5600m? I'm currently on 1.4.4 as I've heard it's the one which gives best performance and im on adrenaline 21.30.14 which i believe is the latest gpu drivers from dell. But the problem is my radeon software doesn't show up. Also im on the latest windows 10

You need to disable smartshift first, but it's already done in your pc

Nope , to desable smart shift you need to edit bios. I haven't edited device bios since it's can brick the device. Ps - After amd driver version 22.5.1 the power limits won't work.

Newer official AMD updates has blocked this. But you can use drivers older than 23.3.1 to enable this. Or use custom nimez drivers with 23.5.2 kernal. This way you can enable tuning for latest drivers

Hi, i have an msi delta 15 laptop with ryzen 7 5809h and rx 6700m. Im using the latest recommented drivers. How can i undervolt my cpu because im using ryzen master and i just lock the temperature to 85c. Secondly, is there a way to undervolt my gpu and lower power limit? Thank you

You can undervolt the cpu using curve optimiser in universal tuning utility and also you can undervolt the gpu and power limit it using this method(but latest drivers won't support this method. You will need 23.3.1 or older drivers)

I've seen that you don't need maximum power to get good hashrate on this laptop. You can try out lowering the clock speed of the GPU and undervolting at same time for the current frequency. I've seen that this can do 36 of hashrate at 65w. Undervolting depends on your laptops silicone lottery. Not same for every laptop even though both got the same gpu. P.S - I haven't tried mining on this laptop though.

Yes. It works very well until driver version 22.5.2. but after that amd screwup the driver control. Now even msi afterburner cant read the CPU and total system powerdraw separately. But undervalt works tho. Only gpu power limitation won't work.

It happens first 2,3 times. If that happens restart the laptop and see its working. Also this happens when you undervalt your device too much and this happens to reset the driver.

@@Btech94 it was just working fine, until I did choose to undervolt GPU, since then this issue persist but games working fine. AMD software doesn't work. Removing whole software with drivers is complete mess as this happens usually every 2-3 months. there should be a simple way to fix that issue, cleaning the data in AppData doesn't working

@@kapmak7019 undervaling depends on the silicone lottery. If adrenaline software crashes it means undervalt is unstable, you can turn up the valtage by a little bit and check that stable by stress testing. Also with the adrenaline drivers above 22.5.2 doesn't work well with this undervalt. Now i use nimez custom drivers 22.12.1 with that it works perfectly.

Update: here is a solution for that issue: Just delete settings via Morepowertools and re-import it and uncheck auto GPU undervolt - save, restart laptop and it should be working normally.

after driver version 23.3.1 amd blocked this method. if you want to do this with latest available version you will have to use nimez custom drivers with 22.11.2 kernal. or use a driver version 23.3.1 or older.

Unfortunately no. After the 23.3.2 update this method won't work. Even on the custom nimez driver v23.3.2 with 22.11.2 kernal won't support. But all the drivers before 23.3.2 works without an issue.

yeah. AMD locked that ability with 23.3.1 drivers :-/ . But you can use moded nimez drivers to bypass that. you can install latest nimez amd drivers (which is 23.4.2 for now) and install the kernal of 22.11.2. which will enable all of these features and RSR as well.

@@kratost for me i got way better temps , less power draw and more performance after undervolting my gpu. now even on constant 80w powerdraw on gpu and 25w power draw on cpu. my GPU temps are not going beyond 77'c.(with cpu locked to 83'c)

@@kratost I've played the whole game with high settings with a undervolt and overclocked to 1650mhz. the game is mostly limited by the CPU. but it manages to average around 65fps at those settings(with fsr quality). if you have unlocked the gpu just set gpu max clock speed to 1650mhz and set the voltage to 820mV at that clock speed.

Just GPU. Cpu can't undervalt yet. But you can limit temperature's and wattage of CPU

Under volting is super safe. I get much lower temperatures now on GPU side. Normally in every game if it's gpu intensive my laptop crashes in about 2 hours of playing because GPU reaches 90'c and force sgut down the device. But now yhe maximum i could get is 85'c with better performance as well.

@@jojox1128 i normally use slight under cloack and and more than 100mv undervalt. It gives me like 2-5% performance increase with temperature reduce. You can use a game with a benchmark and turn down the valtage until the game crashes. Then remember the last matching voltage and save it. If you need profiles that I've created i can upload those. But it's only matching for rx 5600m GPU
