Having the information is good, but IMO its probably more practical to just push to SJ dungeons then use whatever gear you get there to farm the oil rig ASAP. Alpha bosses respawn at dawn or roughly every 32 minutes on standard settings which is the same as the timer for the chests on the oil rig. The big oil rig chest not only has unique schematics at 0.5% (1:200) but also has 1% drops on all the other weapon schematics so in the 200+ runs you need for your SJ legendries you are likely to loot everything else. Additionally you have about a 13% chance per small chest to get some sort of armor upgrade and given that there are 12 to loot per cycle it gives really good odds per run. The dropped schematics don't have a level requirement so all of the armors can be crafted right away when you hit 50 and can make the required Plasteel; further incentivizing running Dungeons and the Oil Rig ASAP. About the only schematic I would prioritize would be the AR4 as Blazemut is still only level 49, (Jet is now 55) and at 6% a day (with butcher) should produce your schematic in ~17 days of farming. As you said, with the bonus headshot damage, range, and inexpensive ammo I still use my AR4 to farm despite having SJ legendries.

@bobnewkirk7003 Yeah, I would skip to SJ if I ever started again. Yeah, the AR is probably my most used gun by far! I'm not sure how I feel if the update brings in higher level guns as it's taken me forever to acquire them all.

@@TropsPlays given the SJ update I'd say we get 5 more tech levels (meaning a new tier of armor and weapons), a new resource that is new island exclusive, and a Quartz Quarry. I would be fine if they just made the schematics go beyond level 4, but require the new resource as making new weapon architypes seems pretty unnecessary now; I'd love to farm an AR8 and have it shot Armor-Piercing rounds made from Uranium or w.e. Most importantly however I'm looking forward to some more parity on the pal type distribution. Electric and Water pals are VERY behind and one of the screenshots they posted with the announcement had a Faleris Aqua which will be a HUGE help for breeding into the midgame. 2 or 3 WS3 pals of each would make major changes to the midgame even if they are just "Aqua" or "Lux" variants.

@bobnewkirk7003 I think the same, we're getting 5 lvls, new gear, new tower boss, dungeons, same pals with different types. I never thought of the quartz farm, but now you mention it that does make sense as we have the other basics. I don't think they will add piercing, but I could be wrong, I think they would save that for the terraria update collaboration. I love the idea that we could go higher than tier 4 gear. By the screenshots, maybe we will be getting crystal as a new resource.

I do hope they come up with a better way for some of the drops, because honestly the Pal legendary armour made sense when the legendries were level 50, but now they are level 55 and by then you are farming the oil rig, which can drop a higher tier of armour that outclasses Pal tier armour. Really they should swap them and just have the highest tiered stuff always drop from the hardest boss content. You can loot the big chest in the oil rig sometimes without even fighting there

Thank you for this, I didn't actually know there was a legendary musket, I usually farm quite a few Quiverns from there (I love them so cuddly) but had no idea that it could drop a musket that good. Especially when you realise the single shot rifle is only 310 attack higher, sure it reloads faster but the ammo is more expensive and you only need one shot anyway. I quite like the musket and usually end up skipping the single shot rifle, I wish it was actually like a sniper of course and the legendary was more like 3,000 power then I would use the single shot rifle haha. By then you should have a shotgun which is just better.

Yeah, a lot of people end up skipping mid tier as you level up so fast just by catching pal. They tend to get the shotgun, ar, rocket Launcher asap. Hey might even add in a sniper rifle which would be cool.

The best way to farm electric organs (used to be?) hunting Jolthogs at night, because they glow and are easier to see, with a fast ground mount on the West part of the Windswept Hills (the yellow foliage area). Also, there's a lot of Sparkits on the northern beach part of the Twilight Dunes. I usually get a lot of electric organs as by-catch while farming Digtortoise for High Quality Pal Oil.

One question for feybreak There was this save method that u quit save and come back and loot the oilrigs big chest and reload if u didnt get what you want. But after the update if u do that chest will simply disapear. I wanted to know if there is a way to quick farm the oilrigs for their special loots like quad launcher. I saw your other method with drop pods which was awsome but quad launcher and light armors dont drop from them. Thanks for the videos btw. 😅

It's because you have already done it, come back the next day and it will be open. Sometimes, the dungeons are covered in rocks, which is normal. There are some many dungeons. Just move on to the next dungeon. On the next day, you will want to check every dungeon again, ever the ones that were covered by rocks.

Not from breeding no. You can increase spawn rate to x3 and capture them then butcher them afterwards so you get 6 times the chances in a single day. The drop rate is 3% now

Fire and Poison Crossbow only have a single level; there aren't any +1-4 schematics in the game. Effectively they are just a debuff tool so the primary weapon damage isn't relevant anyway. If you are looking for a weapon upgrade at that stage of the game I would recommend flying to Fisherman's point and just buying the Makeshift Handgun.

@@TropsPlays well we already saw 3 new pals a 3x bigger island than sakrujima so probably some new passives new level cap and probably some new armour and weapons and new workbench’s but what im really hoping for is like a fill in tool cuz my base is flat but the walls are not very straight so there’s just a massive gap between the foundations and the wall and I don’t care how expensive this fill in tool is i will make it well anyways the fill in tool will basically like fill in gaps with foundation but not go outside the wall for example

That's a good idea about the workbench. it didn't even cross my mind. I think we will also get a new resource, I'm guessing crystals. I hope we get a quartz pit like the others. I don't fully understand what you mean about gaps as I don't have any? Do you mean with a defensive wall or normal ones? If the foundations are connected or perfectly aligned then unfortunately there's no way to fill in the gap.

I've not tried butchering the alpha pals. But I can tell you, you only get one chance from alpha kills to get a schematic. If the schematics don't drop from your first time killing that alpha it's a waste of time to keep farming that Alpha. single-player game I was able to get legendary feather schematic to drop from pinking on the first kill, but after that. it looked like the schematic drop just got removed from the table. Multiplayer server with some friends chillit dropped his legendary Schematic unable to farm any duplicates schematics from him. Again, it looks like the schematic drop just gets removed from the drop table. might be a higher chance of scoring the legendary schematic if you capture the alpha pal.

I spent about 5 hours in total just catching and butchering Suzaku with max pal appearance rate to get the legendary pump shotgun. It got to the point where I was genuinely thinking they didn’t drop that blue print anymore. Turns out I was just super unlucky but thank goodness it’s over now 🥲

Not to flex, but I got it in 1 try as well. I only caught 1 Alpha Suzaku. Then, while I was looking up where to get blueprints, I saw the pump schematics drop from him. So I butchered it and got it
