I managed to get through to Apple Support on another spare phone but couldn't activate screen share as it is only a 5. Same issue here--wanted to listen to a book with voice over--yikes! In my case (iPhone X) the passcode didn't enter easily as described, but I realized I had to keep tapping until I saw the round space of the password become filled with a solid white and therefore knew the number has been stored. Whew! So, this video helped me as well, thank you so much for sharing this! Grateful for iPhone liberation!
