Watching you dump multiple bags into one net, and the time it took to do so, makes me wonder what is the 'safest' amount of time your livestock can be 'out of water'? Thanks Rachel

Talk to me about poly filter: is it a floss material that you just pull off and throw in the tank, or do you put it inside a filter like a HOB or canister? Would you recommend poly filter in a regular, average stocked aquarium? Is poly filter good for newly set up/cycling tanks?

Thanks for the great info. I'm looking forward to my first order from you, arriving tomorrow. So if our fish room isn't the exact temp of the tank should we let them adjust in the dark for half an hour to warm up a little, them put the bag in the tank and keep the lights off for another half hour?
@RachelOLeary8 жыл бұрын
+Julie Hayes sorry, just seeing this. I would check and make sure everyone looks ok. Ifso, let them sit in the dark box, then plop and drop

Totally ready to Plop &Drop. Even increased my house temp by 3° to make the acclimation easier.

Very interesting. 😊 I have decided to take your advice about the Amano shrimp to help with the hair algae. I've researched and now understand how to go about the acclimation process, I'm just concerned about quarantine etc (they'll be going in a tank with hengeli rasbora). If you could point me in the right direction on that I'd really appreciate it. 😊
@RachelOLeary8 жыл бұрын
+Gaina I have never seen an amano with anything contagious.

Rachel O'leary thanks 😊. I couldn't find any info on shrimp disease that could be passed to fish when doing my research so I'm happy you confirmed that.

Yes, I enjoy your videos, very full of very helpful information. I was wondering what is the deal with the black bags, I have not ordered any fresh water fish in a while but in saltwater some places will ship in black out bags, you can't see the fish, what condition they are in. Seems very strange to me, if I get an order that comes in a black bag, I don't order from those people again.......Black bags ??? Hmmm.....
@RachelOLeary7 жыл бұрын
It is to help with their light sensitivity- some people will put newsprint in between the bag layers, some will use black bags- especially with larger fish

Can you explain more on the poly fill? I use it for mechanical filtration but never heard of it just putting in the tank and absorbing ammonia and such
@RachelOLeary8 жыл бұрын
It is Polyfilter- not polyfill. Polyfill is just stuffing, polyfilter is a chemical media that adsorbs and absorbs, so does not need to be in a filter (though is perfectly appropriate to put in one,, I just use mainly sponge filters). It changes color to show you what its filtering out, turning a light yellow with even trace ammonia.
@ihsnshaik8 жыл бұрын
+Rachel O'leary thank you so much for explaining.

I have a question. I just received an 8 inch tigrinus 24 hours in the bag. The guy who shipped me the fish didn’t tell me how to acclimate. It was the first time I got fish delivered. So I decided to drip acclimate. After about 45 min I threw the fish in the tank and headed to work. When I got home I saw one of the gills was red. Looked like ammonia poisoning. 3 days later the gills are a little pink but pretty much getting back to normal color. He still hasn’t ate anything yet. Should I be concerned or just give him more time?

is buying online ideal for a smallish aquarium like 50-100 gallons? also if you buy them at a pet store or a place like that do you have to quarantine? also whats the best way to quarantine? (im kinda new to actually knowing what you're supposed to do with new aquariums)
@RachelOLeary8 жыл бұрын
+Brandon Esper I have a entire playlist on quarantine. You should always, always,always quarantine. Where to purchase depends on what you want and where you can find it. I rarely buy from local stores because they almost never have what I want, that is how I came to be in business

Nice video :) I have a quick question I got neon tetras about 4 months ago about 6 at first and 4 died and got them replaced a few times and they kept dying and then I got 20 more from somewhere else split up and they kept dying as well just after a week or less every time. What would have been the problem? Sorry the question wasn't quick lol
