People, I updated the screen and then the printer. It turns out I used the same memory card for both updates. I didn't get a blue screen, but everything came out in Chinese and in several languages overlaying everything. In the end, I formatted the microSD again and installed the screen update again, then I used the SD card that comes with the machine for the firmware and it worked perfectly for me so far.

I was getting the dreaded CR Touch fail error making my 2 week old Ender-3-V3-se unusable. Updating the screen is pretty easy, thou I did have some problems finding a micro SD card that it would read. It was also impossible to format any micro SD card to allocation size 4096 bytes. It just was not an option (win 10), maybe my micro SD cards were to big or new? No idea but one of them finally worked formatted at Fat 32 auto. Now onto updating the mainboard. As far as I can tell there is no visual indication the mainboard is updating other then it takes longer for the Creality logo to appear. I tried renaming the file 123.bin but that did not seem to work. Once I left the filename the same (SE_HWCR4NS200320C13_SWV1.0.6_GD303.bin) I did notice a distinct pause (maybe 10 seconds) before the Creality logo popped up. So I am assuming in those 10 seconds it updated the mainboard firmware. If I look on the info screen it shows V1.0.6 but is that for the screen firmware or the mainboard firmware? Who knows. Anyway it's working for now, hopefully it continues to work. It really is a shame because for the price this thing is amazing. I've printed about a dozen things and I am stunned by quality. Creality just needs to step up their game because shipping printers with the CR touch error is going to turn away a lot of customers from ever buying a Creality product again.

I've got about 40 CR Touch, and only had one die ever. Just some bad luck. Keep in mind there are literally millions of Creality machines in the wild. Yep, the longer boot, is the update. For the Format, you need to use 32gb or less, and choose Fat32.

OMG just figured it out!!!! if you have this problem check the back of your printer. There will be a little red switch. It should be switched to the right at 115 volts instead of 230

I don't know the specifics, but, Marlin and Klipper, are both under active development, and, I would very much want to keep Marlin up to date. Creality tends to fall behind as it is. I'd update it.

You don't need to EDIT the leveling Data. It will create a mesh, and use that mesh, to adjust your 1st layer

Does the bed leveling work better running this firmware over the 1.0.4? I run 1.0.4 and need to edit the grid to get a good first layer on some spots on the bed.

@@johanflodkvist80 The same thing happens to me, the automatic leveling is very unreliable even after having leveled it manually, it usually changes the leveling by itself, that is, maybe in one print the first layer is perfect, but in the other with the same file it is slightly a little higher which can generate small gaps in the fill lines of the first layer, and I always have the doubt if the cr-tocuh is working as it should.

I did this earlier, and the LCD said it was updating and was always stuck at a certain percentage and would not complete. I then tried a different micro SD card and formatted it to 4096 allocation size, then copied the folder over and tried it again and it worked.

Question, the nebula pad can also get printfiles via wifi or lan, rather than annoying usb stick or sd card swapping? Second question, is the Creality Sonic Pad similar to nebula, re wifi and/or ethernet?

Both are The same. Sonic handles 4 machines. Nebula 1. They are Klipper. Everything is done wirelessly. K1, K1 Max, Ender 3 V3, Ender 3 V3 KE, CR10-SE, come with it.

I updated the screen fine, but then it didn’t go through the setup process for updating the board, yet when I go to info it is showing the latest version, so is it all good and just worked differently for me? (even though it’s the same firmware as the vid), or has something gone wrong?

I would defintily go by whatever version is showing on the screen. If in doubt, RENAME the firmware file, and try again. It won't read the same name twice.

I haven't found a change-log for it. But, keeping up with the latest version of Marlin is a good idea. Creality tends to fall behind, and it's good to see them at least keeping up somewhat

I had tried to upgrade to the nebula pad but it wouldn’t work so I went back to the original screen and it was bricked and wouldn’t boot so I updated the screen firmware and went to update the motherboard firmware but it immediately booted up and went to the home page for the se and printed immediately.

You went from Bowden to DD. Be sure you've got the correct Nozzle Size installed, and set in your Slicer (I assume 0.4). Retractions need to change. Sprite will be 0.8mm/45mms PID Tune, if your firmware allows Set your Esteps to 424.9. But, you may need to calibrate that manually to dial it in. I don't usually find that necessary

I assume you are adjusting your speed based on what's best for each model. Have you tried working with your flow rate? Trying different infill? More walls? The usual suspects? Perhaps estep value is not working out? Flow rate is too low... Experiment with some small test prints.

You need to use a card that is 32gb or less, to format in FAT32. Put the old screen back on, and follow this video, to get it back, then, move on to the Nebula again. When doing Nebula, flash the machine 1st

Keep in mind, when loading a new firmware, the machine won't attempt to load the same filename twice. Try renaming the file, and attempting again.

Your GCODE will control those speeds. When slicing, you'll want to be sure the speeds shown, are the speeds you want. Once the print begins, the GCODE's settings, will be applied. Not during warmup.... when it STARTS the print.

When you slice a file, whatever settings you have chosen, including those chosen by your printer profile, which you have left alone, will be coded into the GCODE. If you find, slicer settings you werer using, don't work well, you will want to RE-SLICE those files. A GCODE only sets the printer, for THAT FILE. Then, the next GCODE, will set the printer, based on how it was sliced. You should not need to be changing accell, and such, unless you are having a problem. Firmware should fit on a small card. I would use an 8 or 16gb, to do the firmware, and a modern card. The bed should NOT heat up on it's own..... Did you ever get this sorted?

Im kinda stuck here. I installed the nebula AND the sprite extruder kit. But the thing is that the probe sits waaay further away than it does on all the other extruder heads (apparently). I can't find a fitting firmware for it though. Leveling is not possible for me now. Anyone with a fix out there ?

The SE already has a sprite extruder. I would leave it stock for the extruder. If your CR-TOUCH is too high, you will want to use a spacer, to lower it.

​@@3DRundown Hey, thanks for the quick answer. I should have been more precise. I own a standard Ender 3D printer and have kept it somewhat up-to-date with various upgrades over the years. I had the Creality direct drive installed before and wanted to upgrade to the Sprite. The only problem I have now seems to be the CR-Touch. It used to sit next to the nozzle, like all standard probes seem to do. But on the Sprite extruder, it sits further at the front. So when I want it to level the bed, the CR-touch never touches the bed, because it remains over the edge. I'm wondering if I need to get crafty and mount the nozzle back there again (parallel with the nozzle), or if I can somehow 'tell the software' about the new probe position. Sorry if I did not properly explain my problem here, english is not my native language :/

Thanks so much for the explanatory video. Unfortunately there is an error in the name, rename the motherboard firmware to something like firmware106.bin, the screen fixes itself when the motherboard firmware is updated. If you write this as a fixed title under the video, people will easily find the solution.

Marline will not load the same file name more than once. If you had a failed attempt, you'll need to rename the file.

YES, you want Fat32. You'll need a card, that is 32gb or LESS, to format in Fat 32. Choose Allocation unit: 4096. Are you SLICING your STL files, then EXPORTING them as GCODE, to the Memory Card?

Should be an English version to DL. If not, you should be able to navigate the firmware to the language select screen and switch it to English. Maybe can find a video that shows where the language option is, so can follow in whatever language your seeing

I have a problem where it seems to be stuck on the "Auto Z offset in progress" screen. The "nozzle heating" icon is not blinking, and no parts of the printer seem to be getting warm. Are we sure you have the english file? You can probably navigate to the language screen and switch it to English. Maybe somebody has a video showing the steps on the Chinese screen

DIFFERENT LANGUAGE ISSUE*SOLUTION: 1. Format micro and normal SD cards 2. put TJC_SET folder in micro root, then insert micro in on the left side of the LCD as shown in this video 3. Copy the Ender-3 V3 SE_....bin to normal size SD card and *rename to firmware.bin* 4. Insert BOTH the micro sd card in the display and the normal sd card in the printer 5. update screen will appear again 6. Wait for update to finish, then turn off remove all the cards and start it up. Should be back to normal display

When doing marlin firmware, it will only read a file name once. To try again, rename it again

Try reloading the older firmware, then the new one again. Also, try to Rename the file. It won't load the same filename twice

It's running Marlin, and you have total control. What issue do you have with it? Consider a Nebula Pad for it.

This printer has great hardware but it crippled by TERRIBLE firmware with very little ability to tinker or customize your experience. Quite sad because it's such a good printer for the price. But with lousy software (and the inability to customize it) the experience is ruined.

It's a budget printer running Marlin. For the Money, it's fantastic. Put a Neblua on it, and now you've got Klipper.
