Is there anyway to add a usb port from a light switch? I basically want to replace the light switch with a tablet to control smart lights instead.

Hey Dave, thanks for the video! I have a heated towel rail I want to remove, it's hardwired into the wall. I went to Bunnings to buy a faceplate for the socket as I no longer want it to be used. Is there a certain way I need to store the red black green cables? ( I will make sure the power is off) Thanks.

I'd chuck them all in seperate BP connectors, throw them in a J box and blankplate the socket

I have these in my bedroom but my charger cord goes on and off and doesn’t charge unless I leave it in a certain position it’s so frustrating!!! I’ve tried with another cord and same thing so I’m buying an actual APPLE iPhone cord just to see if that works.. Any ideas???

Yes but honestly I don't care. For small jobs like changing out something like for like, I just do it myself. For big jobs or risky ones I call a sparky. I created my own 3d printer completely from scratch including doing all of the wiring, fusing, distribution etc (DC) but wiring up the AC power supplies, switches and breakers, I left to a sparky so as to be compliant with my insurance. Needless to say, it was the first time he'd installed a breaker box etc on a giant 3D printer.

Thanks for this. Can you perhaps put something up a video on the CLIPSAL / PDL ICONIC range of plugs and sockets? About to try and add a 4 way socket to replace a 2 way wall socket and the system looks quite different to the sockets you have shown. This is a popular range I understand. I also got some bluetooth dimmers...

Don't worry mate, we've all had experience with bad painters, chippies too and some sparky's that don't leave enough length on the wires bc they cut them to short in the flush boxes!
@ioanekoroivuki5434 жыл бұрын
Going through this right now. Either that or that wires been cut so many times.... yikes!

This video only shows one very simple *part* of their job, they charge a lot because they have to be capable of much more, like any educated tradesman. Screwdrivers are cheap but some of their other tools cost thousands - is your local handyman going to be able to verify your earth impedance setup? What about a three phase industrial supply? I'm not a sparky but this is one of those areas where the more you learn, the more you realise how much you didn't know. It's very easy to understand 'just enough to be dangerous'. The good ones certainly earn their money.

@@chocolate_squiggle They will always justify their costs. Often they cut corners, don't follow the safety rules policies and procedures. They're in it for the coin and often rush a job to get to the next.
