It would be impossible for the average computer user to do what is taught in this video. I updated from 8.1 to 10Pro on July 21, 2024 using this thorough, professional and completely accurate video. There were a just two small differences in my 8.1 to the one in the video, but the solution was easy to figure out and the update was seamless and flawless. I watched the video several time before I made the upgrade. The I used another computer to follow the instruction video, pausing at each step of the way to be sure I was following the instructions carefully. Sometimes I backed up to confirm what I was doing and the end result is perfect. I have used other videos from Memory Tech to clean and speed up another computer and the results were likewise perfect! Thank you Memory Tech!!! Also, let me add that my license was automatically updated!!!

Recently purchased a still new in box (never opened) from 2012 HP P7-1451 at a great price off of E-Bay. After fighting the twelve year old Norton Security built into Win 8 by uninstalling it . Works exactly as it should. If language prompts, just reselect the downloaded version of Windows 10. Note: For language pack that is for example English (XXX) then you should be able to proceed with English US version of the download. Activation is automatic from complete installation as my original 8.1 is activated. All process took about 10 minutes from 8.1 > 10. This worked for me as off 31/08/2024. All the links are working as of this date as well. Thank you for the clear instructions!

Just upgraded a friend's old laptop that was still running on Win8 today (2024-11-27). However, instead of mounting the ISO as you suggested, I used the Rufus utility to burn the ISO to a flash drive, and I launched Setup from there. All went according to plan and no snafu's. Thanks for this guide, especially to download the Win10 ISO (neat trick that of simulating a Blackberry BB10!).

Pleasure! Well, usually when you install it from a USB you do a "clean" install of Windows. You have the option of keeping your files, but you can't keep your apps, programs & games that way. With the upgrade you can keep everything as is but your operating system gets updated.

Hi, unfortunately that happens sometimes and I have never found a fix for it. It might be a conflicting program you have installed that is causing it not to upgrade, but to be honest, I think you'll need to do a fresh install of Windows 10 if you want to use it.

i was with you until "double click on setup" at which point nothing happened, i waited a few minutes of nothing and finally double clicked again got the first prompt,clicked yes and again nothing happened. it appears I just wasted 6GB of hard drive space because no matter how many times I click the "yes" prompt , that is the last thing that happens. Really bummed out.

Try downloading the ISO file again, it might be corrupt... You can also try installing all updates in Windows 8.1 and then trying to run it again.

I'm pretty sure it's because you downloaded the wrong version, meaning, you might have downloaded the 64bit version but you have a 32bit version installed currently.

Hi there, to be honest, it might be because of your location. I'm not exactly sure how you will be able to get past that. Maybe with a VPN or by choosing another language to download the ISO file? But then I'm worried that you won't be able to keep all of your files and apps when you do the upgrade. You can also try downloading the Media Creation Tool from that same Microsoft website and then try doing the upgrade through the tool.

I tried the method but I'm getting stuck while upgrading @21% and I get a message "Undoing changes made to your computer" and it reboots to windows 8.1 Tried it a few times and still the same result. Can you help?

Unfortunately that happens sometimes. If you want, you can try the option to "keep files only", which means you will lose your programs in the upgrade process. But sometimes that works to complete the upgrade.
