How To: Upgraded Cam Chain Tensioner Install for RZR/RGR 570 Engine - Rev6 Engines & Parts Tutorials

In this video, we explain how to install a Rev6 Upgraded Cam Chain Tensioner for a Polaris Ranger 570. This tensioner is also compatible with the following makes and models:

The OEM hydraulic tensioner requires oil pressure to build tension, when the engine is cold it takes a few seconds for oil pressure to build and get tension on the cam chain. In these few seconds, the engine is vulnerable to skipping teeth on the cam sprockets and result in the engine being “out of time.” When this happens, the piston can come into contact with the valves and result in bent valves, or even a damaged piston.
This upgrade is a ratcheting style tensioner which means that no oil pressure is needed to keep the cam chain tight, thus eliminating the chance of the engine jumping time. In addition if you have a slightly worn cam chain and you want to eliminate that loud chatter on start up, this tensioner also will take up a few extra thousandths of slack in a stretched chain and significantly reduce any “chain slap” or “top end chatter.”

- Contact Cleaner or Brake Cleaner
- Assembly Lube or Grease
- Timing Stick or Long Screwdriver
- Flat Blade Screwdriver (small)
- 10mm Open End Wrench
- Needle Nose Pliers
- Crescent Wrench or 1 1/16 Wrench
- Screwdriver (optional)
- 1 1/16 Socket (optional)

I just installed one of these that came with the top end kit. That thing just kept leaking around the metal washer also that green o ring if you tighten it down at all destroys the o ring. Ended up using black Rtv on the metal Gasket and replacing the green o ring with a different rubber seal. Seems to work now. But for some reason it didn’t want to seal up on its own.
