This is the most amazing video. The worst part of sewing imho is cutting out the fabric and INTERFACING (ugh)! I would much rather spend the time editing on a computer. It saves wear and tear on my back and is actually less time consuming. Especially if I plan to repeat the process. I don’t have a Cricut yet but I will invest in one before the year is up. Thank you so very, very much! This is a game changer. XOXO

I have made my own pattern template for a dog harness I want to upload into cricut to cut. When I take the photos per your instructions and upload into Design space I still get a registration square since this is a "home made pattern" vs a bought pattern. I want to be sure I have a size reference mark . Thanks for your help and the great video!

Great video - i have been scanning in to get my pdf's into Design Space, your way is quicker! You mentioned about seam allowances. if you have a basic shape adding a 1/4" or 3/8" seam allowance works the way you said but if you have a more complicated shape that doesn't work - the end result is a very varied differential. Any tips? I thought I remembered that there was a way to do it so it was accurate regardless of the shape.

I don’t seem to be able to do this on my iPad Pro. None ofthe colors come up. I’ve tried looking up this information on the net but still can’t find why it’s not showing up. Do you have any advice? I just got my Maker 3 so I’m trying to learn Design Space. I’ve made the Purse Pal but the SVG files were included and it was easy. Unfortunately, we are constrained by the 12” mat. But, you could experiment cutting on the fold by using adhesive spray. I have never done this and if I were going to try it, I would start by trying to cut out a very small square on the fold.

This is doing my head in a bit. What if there is no reference square? Am only using ipad, am good with using graphics apps and am getting to know design space... If I create one image in another app, with a collage/combo of screenshots of all pattern pieces, upload & edit to design space for one piece at a time to create individual pieces, how is it possible to get the sizing right? Even if all pieces are in proportion to each other (is that certain?) how do you get all the pieces at the right size as per original pattern? The only way I can think of is printing the pattern out, add my own 1” box then scan that in as an image... is that the only way or is there a way to do it digitally, but I can only think a screenshot of PDF gives no reference to actual size, so...?! How is this done? Thanks!
@BoojiePanda
@BoojiePanda 6 жыл бұрын
In the Design Space app down at the bottom right of the screen is a little cog. Tap on it and make sure your Grid is turned on. She shows you how to set them at the right size, so just watch really close when viewing the video and you'll see how she does it. The best way is to watch this video on another device or computer while following along with her in the video on your iPad.
@wirechick57
@wirechick57 5 жыл бұрын
I have yet to see a pattern that does not have a reference square. If this is the case though, you could print out the pattern on your printer, cut out all pieces and then measure and cut a square. This square does not have to be 1”, bit it does have to be a true square. I would then scan each piece along with your square, and save each scan as a pdf. Make sure your square isn’t touching your pattern piece.

Go into the Layers panel in Design Space and make sure that your lines are set to “cut” and not “print”. If you are using DS on a Mac or Windows, then you will not find the line type in the Layers panel any longer. It will be in the tool bar on the top left where it says Line Type. I am not sure why your lines were not automatically set to cut. It may be because of changes that Cricut just made with how the Line Type function works now.

Rosie I hate to show my ignorance but could you go into a little more depth of explaining the part where you slice the little squares? @RosiesArtStudio
@RosiesArtStudio 6 жыл бұрын
Hi...Great question! When you load the pieces onto the canvas, they are loaded as if they are one image and the pattern pieces need to be cut apart. Think of the slice command as a knife or a pair of scissors. You can use one shape to slice out another shape to cut them apart. I am not sure what you mean by "unlock". If you are referring to the lock at the corner of the box around the shape, that lock only controls how you size the image. I hope that this answer makes sense.

Rosie's Art Studio I’m sorry, by unlock I meant I Ungroup , but I guess that either wouldn’t work or would waste time. Thank you for your quick reply.

Ungroup would be the easy way to slice the images apart, but unfortunately it is not an option. You can however separate them out with contour. I am actually working on a short video to show how you can do that to give people an option. Even though contour is easier, I am not sure that I prefer it to slicing because contour doesn't really get Rid of all the images...it just hides them. I think I prefer to have all my pieces being independent...if that makes any sense.

Rosie's Art Studio Yes, I think I would prefer that also. Looking forward to trying your way this next week. Thank you so much!

Instead of all the shapes and slicing easier to just Hide Contours. Duplicate multi piece items if needed.

I have a Part Two of this video which shows how to do the same thing using Hide Contour to give everyone a choice of which method they prefer.
