I wish you would come back to YT! I think the natural hair movement made a huge mistake demonizing bristle brushes. We were actually cleaning and conditioning our hair and scalps back in the day and didn't even know it. We were distributing our sebum! Now complaints of dry, brittle, fragile, super tangled hair and flaky, gunky scalp are at an all time high. I'm a straight hair natural and was looking for ways to extend my wash day. This is perfect! I'm going back to daily brushing!

Yup!! Just realizing this is what my mom use to do when she dipped the brush in a cup of hot water and brush my entire scalp.

I totally agree. By default, I did water-only washing purely out of what most people would call "laziness" for 3 months and my hair grew about 3 inches. No joke. Just got in the shower, massaged my scalp with very warm water, detangled and jumped out. Hair THRIVED. Not only will I go back to this, but I will definitely pick up this brushing technique. Girl! I just started the video but I have to tell you something first. I bought a water filter as you suggested in your previous video and omg my hair is so soft! And my skin too! It's amazing!! OK I'll watch the video now lol

Great video and I really appreciate the information regarding this method. I am on day 14 and my hair is really thriving. I don't yet have full sebum coverage and thought about using a bb brush. I have not used a comb or brush on my hair in over a year and a half. I am concerned that brushing my hair would disturb my curl pattern and frizz my hair.

Hi Karen Alyssa, I know exactly how you feel about the possibility of disturbing your curls. It's been at least two years since I used any tools in my hair, so this is the first time in many years. Maybe you could test out the bb brush on a small section of hair first, then test the section to see how your curls react.

Thank you for this ... this type of review and info is really needed for those of us on this method with curly/kinky hair. I have been using mine sparingly but I am not at all comfortable in knowing how to use it. It seems like it's not doing anything really...I have so much hair, it takes a good while to be able to brush in thin sections to get every strand. I am interested in seeing how exactly u use it. Do u use it everyday? Do u use it on loose hair? and do use brush very thin sections of hair in order for the bristles to get all the way thru and not break the hair? Thanks again!

Hi Lovingdeenatually. I don't use the bb brush every day, I'm still working the brush into my regimen. But I always make sure to detangle before I start. I divide my hair into medium size sections, and brush that section. Once that section is done I divide it up into smaller section and continue to brush and smooth. I make sure to be very gentle when I brush. I'll be experimenting with the bb brush for the next month or two, and give regular updates. Hope this helped.

I brush on both, but I think barely damp hair is better.On dry hair I've notice small breaks, on barely damp hair there aren't any breaks at all...

Where did you get your firm brush? Does it brush your scalp? I’m looking for a stiff firm hard brush that reaches the scalp.

I wonder if it is safe since it could cause breakage? My grandma used to tell me to brush my hair and I did although it seemed to cause breakage but perhaps it was some other factor. I would suggest I softer bristle brush and just focus on smaller sections to get your scalp better. Maybe you should start with coating your hair in a light amount of oil, just an idea.

Do you recommend a particular brand? I can only get a BBB brush online. What do you think of the Denman BBB brush?

Hi Tumbukagirl14. As of today I really like my brush strokes BB Brush (medium hardness), and the Diane BB Brush (soft bristle). I haven't tried the Denman BB Brush yet, I ordered one this week and am really looking forward to trying it. As long as the brush is 100 percent boar bristle, and the right hardness for your hair I think any brush you choose will be fine.

Also, the medium hard bb brush, I use on the root area and longer parts of my hair, and I use the softer brush on my ends.

Hi Nikki T. Sorry for late response. You can absolutely use the bb brush to blow dry your hair. Just make sure you're really careful, and go slow, because the bristle can pull roughly on the hair if you haven't detangled properly.
