I haven't decided on a machine yet. I am thinking I might like one like your Cobra - but a lost less expensive. My budget is about $1500-$2000 for a machine. I will probably not sew anything much heavier than a purse, belts, wallets, etc. I might like to try my hand at a holster eventually. I am looking for a pattern for a purse, I can't draw very well, so I have to wait until I run across one online. I'm looking at the Cowboy 2500 and the Cobra Class 26. I think that either one will do just fine for What I want, what do you think? Just to give you a little background on myself, I am a Retire Policeman and have been doing woodworking for the past 30 years. In Jan of 2017 I was diagnosed with lung cancer - I've been treated and appear to be doing fine now. A side effect of the lung damage is that the wood dust really doesn't go with my wanting to breathe. I was into leather work in the '70s and thought that I would get back into that. So I'm building up my leather tools as I sell off my woodworking tools. I have a friend that has committed to buying my Lathe in the next month or so, as soon as he does, I will turn that money into a sewing machine. I don't really think I need a sewing machine, but I hate hand sewing.

Yes Bill the Cobras are $$$ I had just bit the bullet and went big we will see how that works so far GREAT!! I really do not know much about the cowboy 2500 i did look at them when i was in the market, There are a hand Full of different Cylinder arm of that size out there Like Techsew, Consew, Juki, Cowboy, and a few more I believe i went with the Cobra because i live close by there Main Office/Warehouse here in Ontario CA. Also the other REALLY Big reason is the Tech support that is available! As i was doing my research i had found that when they were having a problem with there machine (Other Brands) it would take a good bit of time to get tech support for there machine IF ANY !!!!! To me that is very important Especially after buying such an expensive piece of machinery. You really should check out and join Tips and Tricks with Cobra Class Leather Working Equipment if anything to find out more about some of the other machines they are loyal to Cobra But not Bias of other machine bands and there is a lot of really nice people there (A LOT OF INFORMATION) you will also see post of people that may have problems with there machine and FIND the solution to there problem, most of the time it is operator error. This site is dedicated to Tech Support for the Cobra Equipment. Some about me i am a Fire Mechanic for a Very large Fire Department here in Calif. about 6 years ago i had an injury Then find out that i needed Both full Knee Replacements it was at that time that I toke up the hobby of working with leather along with other things like working on and restoring Vintage sewing machines. But even with all the thoughts of not being able to go back as a full time Fire Tech; I just kept strong in the faith that i would go back to do what I Love to do They are my Family!!! And yes I am Back at it Again Doing what i do best!!! I am so glad to here you are doing Great after all with your lungs, My wife had Breast Cancer about 7-8 years ago and with the grace of GOD I still have my wife of 30+ years ~Hillbilly~

Can you use the press dies to stamp a makers mark that doesn't attach to the die/ram? I have one from Leatherstampmaker, and I'm assuming I could just place the stamp in the desired location, set the correct travel distance of the ram, then stamp normally? Or is there something that I'm not seeing that only allows you to use Tandy stamps? Thanks and great work on the video!

I don't see why you couldn't do that, It should work

@@HillBillyDesigns Thanks for the reply! Do you mean to say, "I don't see why you couldn't"?
@HillBillyDesigns5 жыл бұрын
Yes that is what I mean, I believe you could use some small clicker dies with it also.
