How to use a Needle threader on a Brother SQ9185 Sewing Machine.

Thank you for the close up of the needle threader and showing the old one. I have a machine with that has that theader and I have not been able to get a good look at it. Nice video!

You're very welcome. The little hook that goes into the needle eye is very easy to bend if you're not careful. I'm happy that it's pretty easy to replace it if happens again

Sorry for taking awhile to respond. The little grabber sure makes a big difference. If it's just slightly bent it won't work. I hope yours is ok

Recently discovered that my SQ9185 threader is bent. I have no idea how it happened. I've been able to quilt without it working. Your information is helpful if I do decide to replace it. Thank you.

I struggle with this threader mechanism also. I just can't see well enough to tell if I have placed my thread between the prongs and actually caught the hook. Several tries before I achieve success. Additional bright lighting reflects too much and my glasses alone do not suffice. Just keep trying and eventually I hit the mark. Thank you for your video, I appreciate your help.

You're very welcome. It was definitely difficult at times. In truth I've given up on it and I use a combo needle replacement and threader tool now. I also just got a new Brother Embroidery machine and it has and auto threader on it. It's so easy to use

So it could possibly be the needles you are using. I've learned that some needles just are not compatible. The eye of the needle is either to small and the threader will not go into it or the top of the needle is to thick and it won't let the needle threader line up with the eye. Some of the absolutely worst needles are the cheap Walmart brand. They just will not work on any of the 5 machines I have. I've learned to only buy Schmetz brand or Organ brand needles.

That really sucks. You may have to replace it because the little prong that catches the thread is bent and not going into the eye of the needle. That is why I had to replace mine. If you happen to snag the threader while sewing it can bend it easily. That is what I did while quilting a large quilt.
