What leader and tippet do you rig to fish this this like 15 feet deep? Thanks for the video.

Hi Rod - wondering if you typically would use this with a floating line then? Or does it work the same with a sinking line? Or would it only really work with a sinking leader? Thanks

Hi Daniel, no this setup is always used with a floating line. From the end of the floating line, you tie enough leader based on the depth of the lake you are fishing.

Why do some of the black pins have a slot? Isn't the pin lost when the fish strikes?
@FishingwithRod
@FishingwithRod Жыл бұрын
The hole in the peg is the whole point of this setup in the video. You thread the line through the hole so the black peg remain on your line once released from the indicator.

@@FishingwithRod Thanks I get that. The package of indicators comes with 2 sets of pins. One set has the hole down the middle (which I use); the other set of pins has a slit rather than hole. I was wondering what they were for.

Another great video. Last year, I followed your tip using a spinning reel and sliding float. And it worked really well! I've been wanting to try a fly rod and reel but I don't know what to get. A decent one that is not too expensive. Any suggestion? Thanks.

Hey Howard, yeah the sliding float method works pretty well, sometimes even better than the fly rod. ;) For fly rod and reel, you should get a 4wt outfit for Tunkwa or any of the lakes in the area. That's more than enough to handle those fish. For the reel, you don't need to invest a whole lot of money on it, a cheap one will do as you'll only be using it for freshwater and the main purpose of those reels is to hold the line only, you'll just be stripping the line in when fighting the fish (unless you have a really big one on!). For the rod, you want to go with a 9' long, 4wt, and most importantly one that you feel comfortable with. A "faster" rod is stiffer and easier to cast, that's what I'd recommend. For fly line, 4wt floating line, don't cheap out on this one because bad lines can give you all sorts of problems. Scientific Angler GPX is a pretty good standard one to go with.

Hi Rod, I fished Charlie lake in Fort St. John a couple weeks ago and wondered if you would do a video in the peace region. That would be an awesome video because there is so much variety in game fish. P.S. This is a good and very informational video.

We'd love to go up to the Peace Region and actually there are plans to do features next year in more remote regions further East and North next year. Maybe won't make it to the Peace but eventually we will...

i use a poly yarn one with dryfly spray on it, this one looks very heavy, to heavy for lower line classes Rod ??

It's actually pretty light. This particular one used in the demonstration is the larger of the two sizes I like to use. The smaller one doesn't really feel like anything on the leader, but also harder to see on a windy day.
