I have found that a pasture that's been recently mowed or a football field that's empty of bystanders, are good places to practice. Shot cast in molds will weigh about the same and after you get practice, will be more consistently accurate. (If you paint them white, when you get to your impact area, they are easier to find, so they can be used again.)

What do you material do you use to cast? Thank you!!!

@@FunDadAdventureshardened oval shaped clay "glandes" painted yellow. About 4oz is a good weight. Make a silocon mould with a hard boiled egg or polystyrene novel egg.

Slinging should be more popular, i love it on the beach at low tide.

Cool video! The baseball throw motion reminds me of a full tennis service motion and the sling is sort of how I used to teach kids to hit a serve in tennis. We would put a tennis ball in the bottom of a grocery bag and practice the full serve motion without having to stop and reset, worry about a toss, etc. It was a nice way to build some muscle memory and get comfortable with the motion.

This is a stellar idea. I will follow up with another video after I practice up on that idea... Thank you Robert!!

that figure eight behind the back is my fave. Can get off about a shot every three seconds and just feels natural, and with consistent throwing form, you will catch after the release in other hand behind you ready to slide up with another stone and throw again. Quick as heck, very little motion needed, never liked the helicopter throws, but they have their uses.
@FunDadAdventures5 ай бұрын
No doubt!! I love that one the most. Seems to have the most power and seems most natural for sure. Happy throwing!

Underarm with just one rotation is a good way to begin. Get the feel of ammo weight and improve timing of release cord. Think of it like a golf swing. Consistent weight of ammo is essential for improving accuracy.

It's not mentioned in the story of David and Goliath, but David may have really used a Staff sling. In 1st Samuel 17:42 Goliath says to David; "Am I a dog that you come at me with a stick?" None the less, I liked your show! I liked your "Behind the back" swing. I've not seen a swing quite like that, but it seemed natural, powerful and accurate. I'll have to try that out! Thanks for the cool vid!

One last question: is your 'baseball' throw based on a classic style that you know of? If not, it should be!!!@@FunDadAdventures

@@dfishborne not that I am aware of but then again we don’t really know. I’m sure that some were in antiquity someone tossed a rock like this. 😂

A better way to throw rocks or marshmallows. I like how yoiu make them. I like the helicopter throw the best, but the baseball would be nice to if a person can learn it.

I plan on practicing the helicopter myself.

Cool video, the fact you throw left handed makes it difficult to absorb what your doing though. ✌️
@FunDadAdventures4 ай бұрын
Thank you. I am left handed so if I tried to throw it the other way, it would be super weird and I would probably knock myself out with the rock. 🤪

"Throw it like a baseball" - and that should suddenly make everything obvious. Oh, Americans! I love the technique and simplicity of the design of this sling though. I stumbled on this video looking for some synthetic materials as a replacement for leather. After all we are living in 21st century - leather is not mandatory, We should have other options in the plastic era. And leather is unnecessarily expensive. Plastic materials will do well too.

I enjoyed the video but I think you'd have better accuracy and more power if you start the swing behind you, with your body aligned sideways to your target, instead of swinging on the side of your body. Swinging the sling on the side looks (and to me it feels very) unnatural. The reason, I think, the "baseball" swing works better for you is because you're projectile is coming from behind. Do the same with the side swing and you should find it improves your throwing. Also check out Archaic Arms, he has some videos about how to use them as well. Best of luck!
