You strike me as one of those rare guys who: 1. Knows what he's doing to the point where he can explain it simply. 2. Is definitely not afraid to work, and probably inspires others on the crew to work hard and do a good job as well. 3. Takes pride in a job well done. Thanks for the video!

@@9LivesNoHate I said "it's hard to find" so while you should always be proud of yourself as a "young worker" you're being very biased in thinking "young workers" are everywhere 😂 I literally turned 27 today well yesterday since it's almost 3am so I'm technically young still lol, and I see it daily where "young people" do NOT want to work. They slack off ALOT, skip important parts to try to make shit easier and they will not listen for the life of them. They also think they can get a job, work 2-3 days then quit. They think it's normal I guess. But to me, they are just losers 😂 if you have done what you say then congrats you may not be one and you should be proud. But don't say I haven't looked because it's very easy to see that these last couple generations have terrible work ethic, and also think they can just say "sorry" and "I didn't know that" like it's gonna help them. 1. It won't and 2. Take responsibility. This may be a long comment but it's all truth. It's very hard to find. I'm a female, I work hard and try to learn daily from what I do. My wife is a VERY hard worker and it's one of the things I find most attractive about her. Work ethic is hard to find when all people wanna do is get free things in life.... :)

When doing lawn edging with a trimmer pay attention to where the fuel tank is located. If you don't have a full tank of fuel or you tilt the machine in the wrong direction you will end up with the pickup line in the tank out of the fuel level. The grass trimmer is in my opinion probably the one biggest addition to doing lawns and I have been at it for 76 years. When I started all we had was the muscle building hand trimmer.

Edging with a string trimmer has proven to be the most useful skill for as long as I have been doing lawn care. The very first edge of the year will always be done with a blade, but a string trimmer thereafter. The amount of time one will save by not having to pick up/put away an additional tool (the edger) will mean more money in your pocket. Another skill I have found invaluable is the ability to trim in such a way that I can determine which direction the trimmed debris will go. This skill will help keep areas that need to be debris-free, clean.

One thing I always do for the higher end and comertial customers is float the edges. It makes for a real sharp manicured looking edge. I also use a string trimmer for most edging except for the early spring deep edge. Of course I've been doin lawn maintenance and landscapes for 40 years. Started as dad's helper. By time I was 10 I could handle that trimmer better than most people. A good trimmer man is very hard to find. I actually think women do better as they are detail oriented. Good video.

I had a model older than this one that I love. My sister has difficulty with tools that are too heavy and she actually loved mine and found it easy to use kzbin.infoUgkx_rBCFuDW1zD6blTGhLkvAkxU657uR_lG . This is a newer model but was even lighter which she really appreciates. She enjoys it and I no longer have to go to her house to trim as she can handle it fine. Haven't used it enough to comment on the battery life but lithium batteries last longer than the old style. Being cordless makes it easy to trim the far edges of the property. The entire yard can be trimmed with one charged battery.

I cut my teeth in the biz with a line trimmer and z turn as my only equipment. For 2 seasons I cut edges(even at large apt. complexes) with a weedeater because that's what I was taught. I honestly got really good at it over those 7 to 12 hr days. I'm still faster using only a weedeater, but edger is what I use for those nice deep edges that need to be blown out. For audits I come back behind the edger with a weedeater to really make them pop, or when we are "racing the rain." But mostly I weed eat edges to show off! I banned all but one of my guys from doing it and he only does it in emergency situations, or to show off! Great vid!

I love how he doesn't tilt the weed Wacker much. As a beginner, I find myself pushing the string trimmer towards a surface and/or weed and tilting it at different angles to get a sense of hitting the weed so my string snaps often and I have to bump it. In this vid Dan didn't change his string once. Dan handles the trimmer very neutrally and only let's the tip of the string work and flat edges when need be.

My brother gave me a 12 second demo today on how to use my new trimmer... while it was off... he seemed to have a lot of faith in me. Anyway, I need to lift weights or something because my arms are noodles now 😫

@scorpiodoll1101 battery powered trimmers/weedeaters are really good for home use, just not great for a lot of commercial use due to you needing to wait for a batteries to charge after they run out, and spare batteries can cost $100+. Tho they last long enough to cut 1 large home. And they're def lighter

Nice!!!! I thought maybe I was being stupid (yet again) for using my string trimmer as a grass blower on my driveway and sidewalk. Now, thanks to you, I feel better. I am not pro but with these tips I am definitely going to do better than I have been. Thanks!!!

All very good skills to have as a landscaper for when it comes to weed eating. Though a good tip to keep in mind for edging beds (especially beds that have never had one), would be to establish the edge first with an actual edger tool to cut the deeper roots of grass types like Centipede & St. Augustine. This way (if legal in the state) chemical weed killers, or natural mixed weed killers can be carefully applied on the bed side to kill any shoots of grass that's invaded the bed. Allowing the beds defined edge to last just a bit longer.

LOVE the wasp information, because I am allergic. If I get zapped by one, that's the end of my day. But so far it's been 6 years no trouble yet so hopefully I can keep it that way. Thanks for sharing the tips bro. I am still new to the field, but I am learning a lot from you. So far it's all complements from customers.

I subbed for tip #10. A backpack blower would also be an excellent defense, especially against large numbers of wasps. Wave that nozzle around like mad on full power and send 'em flying!

There seems to be a dominant direction of cut. I heard that your suppose to cut in whatever direction the string trimmer is spinning (clockwise in this case I think). I.e., One is your cut or power stroke and the other takes you to the next line. Also notice how Jeff's body remains neutral (he is not twisting his torso but rather using his legs to move). This way he get optimal coverage and uses his body efficiently.
