Have you ever done or thought about doing a video on how you store and manage your items when not in use? I'm struggling to find a way to keep my decor (and my art/craft supplies) stored in a way that makes sense but doesn't take over my entire basement or make my husband suggest it's time for a dumpster clean out 😂

Yes! I have lots of things (vases, candlesticks, bowls, art glass, ceramics) that I would like to rotate in/out of display but how to store the other stuff so I don't forget about it?

I love the fact that you are very discerning about what you buy and, compared to other thrifters on KZbin and elsewhere, don’t spend a lot of money and go home with insane amounts of stuff. To be fair, the other thrifters I watch have online shops. But you also have reserves of items you could sell. What I’m saying is that you are a good example of thrifting with restraint, which is probably great for all of us. I for one have given way to temptation many times, spent more than I should have, and ended up reselling the items I bought, which isn’t fun for me. Lately, I’ve canceled items I bought online as a retrofit for my impulsiveness. I’d rather spend my money on donations to causes important to me-which I do, but could do more-and would rather donate my stuff to people who need it, or to retail outlets for causes I believe in. So it’s good for me to see someone buying flea market and thrift store items carefully and not impulsively!
@livingwithlk6 ай бұрын
Those are really great observations! I am always trying to donate when I can to causes that matter, while also dropping stuff off at the thrift stores or local churches/shelters/clinics. I also think spending money on things that make your life a little better whether its a beautiful piece of art, or even something as big as a new couch, can really just make all the difference. We only live one life so I think we've gotta make the best of it!

Law 2 of the thrift store- whatever common item that's always there will disappear the second you start looking for it. Wooden or plastic trays my stores can't add to the shelf there's so many, I need one for a craft, they don't have any for 3 months

My two favorite items are the penguin picture, and the orange lamp. Because of the colours I can see those going together. I also like the brass bowl and the other big heavy bowl. I'm not sure how I feel about copper in general but the candle holders were very nice. The lamp with the white pleated shade looked great and the lamp for behind a plant or chair was a good idea. I was thinking you could get something to put under your jewellery stand to raise it up so that the long necklaces don't hang on the table. I'm sure you will find something, even a sculptural piece of wood. I would love to see more thrifting videos, and seeing what you do with the items. Where their final resting place will be.😅 And to take us to shops that sell new things that you like to shop at. It is nice to see ideas of how you styled your finds to give us ideas and appreciate the tip to pay attention to details. The house I live in needs major renovations to ever get it to my style and get all the details done. I would need to rip everything out. The house was built in 1699.😂 It is 325 years old. And not in a good way. Thanks for another great video. Take care of yourself. 🤗👋💕🙋

I throw ceramic lamp bases and always struggle to find cool shades that match/compliment my glaze colors and aren’t really expensive new or aren’t really beat up from the thrift store. I just bought that exact shade from target and love its look other than it’s stark whiteness…maybe there’s a method of dying? Either way would love to know how you match lamps/shades to make them look intentional bc your style and your lamps are awesome. Thank you!

You always find the coolest stuff! That long abstract painting with the blue figure really caught my eye and I probably would've bought it just because it was so unique and eclectic. BTW, what do you think of Etsy? Have you ever shopped or purchased anything from there? I know their stuff usually costs a grip and most are way overpriced. Yesterday I received an adorable forest green 70's boho ceramic pedestal planter with pretty white flowers I bought from there. It's a little smaller than I anticipated, but it looked like a piece you'd have in your home. Anyway, so glad I found your channel in my recs and had fun binge watching your shopping excursions to Palm Springs, Oceanside, and around San Diego. Oh, have you ever hit up the Orange Circle in Orange, CA? I haven't shopped there in years, but they have some really great antique shops and malls there. You should come and check it out.😁
@livingwithlk6 ай бұрын
Thanks so much!! I'd love to see the planter! I will have to check out Orange County some more.. its been on my list but I just never get around to it. and, I love Etsy! I buy from there a lot. I am OK with paying the higher prices because I know either someone is making it personally, and then shipping it and doing all that, or if its a vintage reseller, I know they take the time to shop and find good stuff, clean it, list all the description info while researching it and then packing and shipping it themselves, etc. Its a huge job! There are some pages now that are selling like mass-produced things for a high price which sucks.. so I always try to buy from an individual if I can get that from their bio etc. I think its such a cool way to find unique items! I just rarely commit to purchases as the shipping time is very long haha.

@@livingwithlk You're welcome!😁. Thank you for all you shared and I'm glad to know that you shop Etsy too! Hey, don't knock grommets - a great invention that does away with tons of costly and cumbersome hardware that's fiddly to put on/off when needing to clean or launder. Personally, I like the look, which lends itself to multiple decor and is user friendly. Please, rethink!
@livingwithlk6 ай бұрын
They're absolutely functional! I just don't find them design forward.. I have had grommet curtains before and I prefer putting the time into pleating them or putting the fabric over the bar like I did in the bathroom makeover.. I just feel it looks more elevated because it keeps the attention on the drape itself and not the grommet -- which is usually very dark in color and large in size..
