I remember when you first introduced the Wallenstein. It was cool when you first showed us and it’s still cool now. Thanks for the 6 month review Sir. It’s great to see that you are still happy with the purchase and that it is holding up to all the work you put it through. Truly a testament to the build quality of that piece of equipment. Thanks again for another great video Sir. Always enjoy kicking back with a cup’o sludge and watching your new content. Take care. 😃

Great video Sandy. I ordered an FX85 yesterday. Really looking forward to using it, so I appreciate all the tips & tricks. I think you can avoid having to walk back and forth by having wife pull the cord and unhook, but I guess you'd have to walk back-up to retrieve the choker, so same difference. Thanks for posting ;-)

Picked one up last fall with a self releasing snatch block for five big ones. Been on my Ferguson FE35 ever since. True about the engine speed. Only need to run just above idle as too fast can make things happen too fast... Sure is a work saver. My next to new 2015 Kioti RX7320 ROPS finally arrived at the farm today and heading 2hrs North on Saturday to pick up a new wallenstein FX110 winch. Sure looking forward to winching from outside of the thick underbrush and standing timber, grapple logs up and onto a 8ton running gear and out to the Lucas mill. Trying to minimize dirty bark

Excellent review on the winch. It is a great product. I think that the remote would help when you have multiple logs to skid that are not close together. I know I wouldn't spend 2k on the remote, besides walking is good for you.

Have you tried pulling small trees over (without cutting), or pulling stumps?
@cripplecreeksawmill2 жыл бұрын
The only problem with skidding individual logs is the mud build-up that you get (and then having to saw through it ), the ground where you are looks very solid. That's a great-sized tractor for work around the log yard!
@sawingwithsandy2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I agree about the mud. I find where possible it's great to skid out logs in the winter to avoid the mud but if not then the mud can for sure build up
@contrafax2 жыл бұрын
I remember your struggles getting logs to your mill before you had tbe winch. Now you get to spend more time making lumber and paying your heating bill.

Hi Sandy. Did they put a stop on the pivot point where the cable comes out of the top? If they did, that would help a person to see the 25-degree max angle. Have good days!

Hi Sandy, Great video's, did you buy this Red Pine forest acreage or is it something that was in your family and how many acres of plantation do you have ?
@sawingwithsandy2 жыл бұрын
Hey R.F. thanks for watching. I bought the red pine forest some time ago. To be honest I've never really known the actual size of the plot but I'd guess it's around 12-14 acres or so
@bradh742 жыл бұрын
I haven't ever seen trees planted in nice straight rows. In the area where I live they usually replant Asphalt, Concrete or all of the above with buildings. It's really ironic how the part of N.E. Ohio that I'm from is supposed to have the or at least some of the most fertile areas (best farm land) in North America (according to private studies). We planted a bunch of cities on it lol. They did a nice job of removing old stumps and replanting tough. What kind of trees did they plant? I can tell it's an evergreen (conifer) but not much else.
@sawingwithsandy2 жыл бұрын
Hey Brad! Too bad about the paving over of the nice area you're from. The trees planted here are red pine trees. Very common around these parts to grow red pine on areas that were once open in order to provide good lumber returns. These trees grow really straight as you can tell and were planted by a planting machine.

Just need a self releasing snatch block or two. For those particularly long and multi-angled pulls you can also use your chainsaw winch.

Hi Sandy, I was seeing you kind of struggle with the ropes you tied to the cage to hold the white and green ropes. Maybe because you were doing it one handed while holding the camera. Have you thought of just attaching a couple of carabiners instead of the tie down ropes ? They won't hang too close to the winch line and might be easier to use. Just a thought. Have a great day !!!
@sawingwithsandy2 жыл бұрын
Yeah was a bit of a struggle with the one hand. Carabiners could work for sure. Hope you liked the video Dora! Thanks for watching

@kona13882 жыл бұрын
@@sawingwithsandy thanks for the reply. I took mine off 2 weeks ago but have been thinking they might be helpful when skidding bigger logs. I will be curious to see if you notice a difference.
@kona13882 жыл бұрын
BTW I agree with your comments on the RC. Seems like something that would fall on the ground and I would drive over it or the chainsaw would vibrate it into confusion. Hard to beat rope! Now the synthetic cable option, that is worth some thought!

14:09 "Remote control option?" - The strings ARE the remote control - you are standing remotely from the unit, not at the unit pulling on levers. I think you are talking about 'wireless control'.
