@georgegravette1132 Жыл бұрын
Important note: DO NOT attach the club to the front of the steering wheel. Attach it from BEHIND the wheel, between the steering wheel and the dash, so that the lock is facing IN, toward the gauges. Otherwise, thieves will break into your car, thinking they can use a dent puller to punch the club lock, the way they used to punch ignitions. I've seen at least one case where the thief was successful. Additionally, depending on the steering wheel, a club applied from the front can slide down and set off the car horn, especially if the car is parked facing downhill. I've used these since the early nineties. It takes literally one extra second to reach around and apply or unlock the club from behind.

My friend had "The Club" steering wheel lock in the 80's for his car. I told him it was a fair deterrent but cut out switches and such would better along with it. I had one too, but I had custom theft deterents in my car - I am an engineer and sadly have a criminal mind (but law abiding) so I was very creative. The Club lock used plates not pins, it was very "loose" (a lot of tolerance in the keying), and I could pick one in 5 seconds with two properly modified paper clips. Anyway, we went out to lunch one day and he ran into a convenience store for a lottery ticket. I told him to put the Club on his steering wheel and I waited in the car. When he came out less than a minute later, I handed him his Club removed from the steering wheel, undamaged, and relocked. He wanted me to help him add theft deterrent systems for him after that.

If they cut steering wheel, are they willing to pay $150 for replacement steering wheel and put the time, work and cost of replacing the air bag into the $150 replacement steering wheel..... Easier for a thief to pick an easier target. Unless they smash the side window and or front glass out?
@djbolivia8 жыл бұрын
It isn't intended to catch on the windows. It's intended to catch on the frame of the truck. In vehicles that don't have the "grab handle" that you can see in the truck in this video, it's possible to turn the steering wheel as far as possible to the right before putting the club on, then put the club horizontally across the steering wheel so the end that pokes out is on the left side, and the door prevents the wheel from turning. Of course, if the truck was stolen and the door was the only problem, a thief could always drive with the door open.
@JayJaxRHS136 жыл бұрын
@@djbolivia thats actually false the club will also hit the person driving if the club is short enough to not hit the cars interior. Good video. You can also disconnect the coil wire when the vehicle is not going to be used and you want a little additional anti-theft security. You don't even need to remove both ends, just one end is okay. Doing just one end makes it quicker and easier for you to reconnect it yourself when you're ready to roll. Takes about 30 seconds, that's a little longer than putting the club on, but it's about as effective as long as you're not up against pro car thieves. Most teenagers that would steal the car aren't going to take the time, and make the noise, of opening the hood to see why the car wont start. A disconnected coil wire is a "cheap" and effective anti-theft measure. Also, a locking gas cap is worth the small price it costs. (But save your original gas cap as you'll want to put it back on the car for emissions testing when the time comes). If the thief does happen to get your car, at least he's not going too far if he can't get the locking gas cap off.

The CLUB is only a visual deterrent. I always love the "they will take the truck next to you" I don't often park next to other trucks...LOL Beat bet is to drive an XL vs a loaded up truck. hahaha That is what I do and I have a low deductible insurance.

I didn’t know it was supposed to stick through the window lol. That’s pretty neat.

You just cut the steering wheel and then the club will come right off
@iceboxy9 жыл бұрын
Nathan Clark Isn't it too time consuming assuming you are the thief...it is easier to steal a car without "the Club". Besides, who wants to driver a car with a broken steering wheel or buy one?

Cut the steering wheel? Sounds time consuming...

They dont need to cut the club. They cut the steering wheel. It takes less than a minute to cut steering wheel and yank it open to slide the club out.

To unlock them or pick them lol. That design is compromised with a single cut to the steering wheel.
@CJ90074 жыл бұрын
Not anymore they have double hooked ones that won’t let you do that

I don't lock my steering wheel club so I can put it on backwards. When car thief sees it, they just walk away.

Just take out your fuel pump relay, unless the thieves bring a tow truck there not driving off in your ride.
@neatchipops34284 жыл бұрын
Just take 85 minutes out of your day, each time you drive. Might as well lift out the battery... then they also, can't steal your battery.

If they bring a tow truck and it’s not legal.. time for wheel locks

Smart chop shop thief will cut a small piece outta the steering wheel and pull the club out of the way. Then replace the wheel later.
@neatchipops34284 жыл бұрын
Yeah, because a "chop shop" puts cars... back together? Damn... does it hurt to be that illogical?
@CJ90074 жыл бұрын
They make double hooked ones now where you can’t just cut through the wheel anymore. It’s what everybody should use
@CJ90074 жыл бұрын
You’d have to cut several pieces out and depending on the way you place it even then it will be a huge pain in the ass for them
