Loved this video so much! If you made a video talking through the arnold render settings tab (camera AA, diffuse, specular, etc) I would find that so valuable! When it comes to noise in the scene I really have no idea where to start in terms of fixing the problem. Honestly I don't have a good grasp of how to use those settings full stop.

Hi, I just started using maya in conjunction with Arnold for archiviz. I was wondering how I would save my materials, so I wouldn’t have to create a new one for every scene .
@arvidurs4 жыл бұрын
Hi! You can just export them either as a maya file. Or if you don't use Maya - You can use Arnold Material export option

Hey Arvid, a question: what kind of skills have to have a guy to be a look development artist? They have to know thinks like programming, write shaders, ligthing? I don't know !. What do you think?
@arvidurs5 жыл бұрын
Typically it’s important to have a good eye for detail, always trying to improve, observation, lighting helps too. But you don’t need to be able to write your own shaders. And no programming either. All of that helps, but it’s not necessary

Awesome video, learned soo much! A few questions tho: what is that window you are using to look at the reference images? And how do you get the Arnold Render View to be so fast?
@arvidurs5 жыл бұрын
The window is called pureref. For the ipr the trick is to have low settings for faster feedback - that’s how

I love the stream, though ai_shaders sometimes makes things too tough. I couldn't find a way to make proper diamond shader with not crazy light dispersion with this shader, tried for days. In v-ray its dead easy
@arvidurs5 жыл бұрын
hm it shouldn't be too difficult. But if you want to see caustics, it's definitely not the best for that.
@KoganeNoYubi5 жыл бұрын
@@arvidurs its less about caustics than about dispersion abe. ai_shader with the proper diamond settings refracts crazy amount of colours. a "normal" diamond doesn't have so many colours going. so being a physical correct shader I wonder why that doesn't go well.
@BulletWhizza5 жыл бұрын
@@KoganeNoYubi Have you played around with the Dispersion Abbe settings? Usually a value above 4 reduces excessive color dispersion but gives you a decent amount of colour splitting
