Hi, thanks for visiting. Depending on your type of food. If yours are small and not much gravy, you can get the rectangular shape lunch box. But if yours is like having a lot gravy like those stew soup, can get the round with deeper pot. Both are small and compact and more or less weigh same. Hope this helps. Thank you so much! It was very hard to find information in english about these. I have a DFH-B12E1 square like one without the separating tray, what are their differences? (Got it has a gift without the box or the manual).

Dont think there's much difference in cooking method but just that you can put more food without separating and not able to separate different dishes. It is very useful for one to two people usage.

Hi, my electric lunch box dont comes with timer. I just add water to the base of the lunch box and the light will light up and heat the food. So far no problem.

I have a round shaped 2-tier ELB. I think the upper tier takes a longer time to get food cooked. Comparing both types, do you think the rectangular one can get food cooked faster?

It can be controlled by the amount of water you placed in the base of the lunch box. Both cooked about the same time. For steaming is about 15 minutes(steaming i used one cup of water) and cooking 30 minutes (cooking I add 2 cups of water, use the cup provided). Of course, after many practice, sometimes I used only one and half cup of water for food that need less cooking time. The round shaped is suitable for cooking food that makes more gravy (like curry, etc) while the rectangular shape cannot hold much gravy,is shallower.

Try putting those easier to cook at the top while those longer to cook at the bottom. Either types is the same.

hei there,, hopefully isn’t late to ask,, i have using portable lunch box for almost 2 years and lately i find out that there’re some microplastic residues at the bottom of water container that show up right after finish cooking,, so i was wondering is that safe for all of foods that steamed inside because i read article that some microplastic can evaporate !?

Could be due to wear and tear. Use a wet cloth to clean the bottom part of the box while the rest can be washed. I am not an expert on this, cant really reply your question.

Each has its own purposes. The round has a deeper depth can cook food that has more sauce/gravy, the rectangular can steam items that can fit its length otherwise have to squeeze into the round lunch box. I bought these two on separate occasions when there's promotion and bought at a good price.
