Fun fact I just found trying to use the external mod manager if you go: File > Import Mod. You can click the zip or archive and the manager will do the extracting on its own, you dont even have to do it one at a time you can highlight a multitude of files!

The bottom line to get the mods you like to work in game is that you MUST Enable or tick them in the game's Mod list; regardless of which Mod Manager you end up using. The game will warn you of any Mod Changes and require you to RE- Tick your installed Mods every time you start a game. You MUST go to the In Game Mods Tab. Note: The Devs. just made a *Patch to Stabilized the In Game Mod Manager a couple of days ago, this Patch has nothing to do with Patch 7.

I’m sure it’s user error, but it seems like I can only use mods from in the game rather than bg3 mm at the moment. I’ll leave it for a bit and see if there are any more info coming in the next little while.

​@@Byaren803 Go into your %appdatalocal% and locate larian studios -> baulders gate 3 -> player profiles folder -> public and delete the mod setting file. Nothing else. Then relaunch the launcher and it should open no worries

@@kristynwardlow9603 I aprreciate your response. So when I did this it resolved one issue, but that lead to the other issue. So when I finally got into mod manager, if I change anything, I get the error message in the game (it doesn’t seem to matter if it’s a recently updated/created mod/mods people say are working for them, etc. ). I then need to go through the process again to access mod manager to be able to delete all of the changes, to be able to access the game. And I end up back at square one.

Re download Mod Manager. They updated it after Patch 7. I had the same problem until I re downloaded. Hope this fixes your issues.

Also for people who have been using the BG3MM for some time. Delete the mod fixer from the BG3MM override section. Most mods will work, unless there is some UI interference.

Was really felling optimistic after watching your video but I'm having terrible luck. My game broke after patch 7, so I re-installed the game twice. Then deleted all my mods, mod manager, game, old save files (back them up on a separate drive, cuz thats 500 hours of gameplay gone lol). I re-installed the latest mod manager and I can't even open the application lol, it crashes my Explorer. I bought a brand new gaming PC just for BG3 last fall lol so it shouldn't be a hardware issue....no worries - I'm just venting. I'll figure it out. This was a great video, I'm just having bad luck and probably corrupted something along the way or have a virus I need to find

@@JasonDunna It was on the same drive yes, just unzipped the mod manager to my desktop. Which also randomly removed my BG3 desktop shortcut out of the blue -- buggy. But after a full PC restart I was able to open the mod manager, and also play the game. I'm about to start introducing pre-patch 7 mods one at a time, but am paranoid. Namely, I like origin mods, like custom face/hairstyles for companions, etc. which aren't ported yet to Larian's manager so I'm worried those might break it but we'll see. Just those, and basket full of equipment and similar but I've heard that one doesn't have issues for other people

Because those Origin mods generally go into the data folder, and not the mod folder so Idk how compatable those are nowadays. I think that was part of what broke my game originally. That and/or the script extender

Where do I install the Norbyte´s Script Extender, it doesnt seem to go into the mod file section of the baldurs gate mod manager? 2. Some mods are overridden: Improved UI assets and Modfixer - are they already installed through the BDG3 mod manager? 3. I get the following warning sign connected to some mods, with a text reading: requiring version 4, 7 or whatever, of the script extender, or higher, currently installed version 20. Well if 20 is installed, what is the problem then? 4. Duplicate downloads - should i delete the duplicate, sometimes i download two of the same by misstake. Or, does the BDGMM just ignore the duplicate. 5. It seems that once these mods are downloaded to the Larian Mod file, with BDGMM, then i need to activate them in the BDG3 mod manager - inside the game. Still, i see the warning triangle in the setup menue of the game, warning me that im running 3rd party mods - can this triangle be removed? 6. Some mods arent possible to activate in the BDG3 mod activator, i dont know why, for instance the impoved UI Assets mod and others, why is this? I think the improved UI asset mod is already in the BDG3 internal mod pool - why would it complain about it missing then?

Hi there, not sure if you were able to get the fix for Script Extender but I found that if you extract the download file into [C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Baldurs Gate 3\bin] it should work.

Thank you for the guide. Both Community Library and Compatibility Framework require Script Extender though and I can't manage to install it. Used both the "drop into bin folder" and the "Tools menu" options and it's just not showing up and the CL/CF show as dependency missing.

OMG, thank you so much! I tried this and it works! I was so afraid I couldn't use my aasimar character anymore, rip. My only issue I'm getting is when I load up the game, Compatibility framework is not working as the in mod manager is giving a third party error message. In the mod manager, it's saying script extender v9 or higher when I went and downloaded the direct link. Would love some feedback on that one! My testing mod was the Nexus Teleport to you mod, and it worked even with this error message :)

Hmmm the in game mod manager might be causing an issue, it shouldn’t do that. Make sure BG3 isn’t running when using the external mod manager

I have been mixing mods from Nexus and the built in Mod Manager. Just be careful with the Nexus mods. If they haven;t been updated for Patch 7, they may not work. However, I use 5E spells, i don't believe this was updated for patch 7 but it still works for me. Good Luck and happy Modding!

Yes the external mod manager works really well with the new one built in. But as Gary said check to make sure they’re updated for patch 7. Some won’t require being updated like 5e spells but just check to be safe!

I’ve run into a weird problem where if I have mods from the external mod manager and the internal mod library, every time I open my game I have to manually enable them….the external mod manager says that it has everything and I ensure to save, reload, and export on my main campaign but the problem still persists. I think that occurs when your last save file doesn’t have the mods enabled so it turns them off. Sometimes you have to delete some save files that have the mods, or save over them to fix it from what I’ve experienced

Hi Jay! I was using the mod manager perfectly fine for months up until patch 7. Once patch 7 hit i could no longer open bg3 through the manager. I ended up completely deleting bg3 and the mod manager and reinstalling. I followed your tutorial to double check nothing has changed and I still cannot launch through the manager. Any tips?

The manager loads the Vulkan version of the game whereas normally you’ll load the DirectX 11 version. I usually have issues with Vulkan so maybe that’s what’s causing the issues for you!

RE-download the BG3 Mod Manager. They released a new version for Patch 7. My version of Mod manager would not open also at first with Patch 7. Then I updated it and now it works fine! Good Luck!

It’s on patch 6 eh? Are you using BG3MM or vortex? Vortex could update your mods to patch 7 causing some issues. Make sure all mods are on the correct patch, and maybe do a fresh install of BG3. Back up your saves too

When using the BG3 MM, after exporting the mods into the game do you need to use the In-Game mod manager and "enable" them? All of them are unchecked and listed as load order 1. And when i try to enable them all it breaks the game. I've tried this with 5 mods and ive tried with all my mods. Same thing happens to me when trying to use Vortex (not at the same time obviously). 😢 I've also tried verifying the files and even a fresh install of the game.

Question. If I were to use mods like this would I be able to simply disable the mods and be able to continue to play my vanilla game. I’m still trying to get achievements and working on an honor mode play through but I also want to use BG3 as a way to create visuals for my NPC’s in my campaign I’m DMing in the future. 😅

You can always use SAM (Steam Achievement Manager) if your achievements break, I would use it as a last resort and only if your achievements break but it’s a good option

@@JasonDunna I have the same issue, when I try to load my save it has a "mod issues detected" popup with all my mods in a big list, and it has the "third party mod" symbol next to each. If I say continue anyways, it will have another popup saying some mods were disabled (even if they are actually enabled) and say it may corrupt my save or something if I load the game, so for now I just haven't been playing. Even mods that are updated to patch 7 are marked as disabled even when they aren't. Should I just delete all my vortex mods and start fresh on the in-game mod manager? I just don't want to corrupt my current playthrough. Thanks :)

Yeah exactly, I’ve heard people had issues getting vortex to work with the new mod manager, so the external one plus the internal one is a good combination

All I need is WASD and camera tweaks mod to be updated. Anyone know when the authors of these two will update these mods. i have set up my mods all dependencies are downloaded and are in the right place but now i have to enable them within the game through the in game mod manager but im now only getting 4 mods appearing out of 10 do you know of a way to fix that?

Hmmm the mods from nexus won’t appear in the ingame mod manager, it’ll have an x for the image but it should still work if they’re updated for patch 7

Compatibility Framework & Community Library: I did a search on the in-game mod manager and couldn't find them. Do I need to go under LaughingLeader's Baldur's Gate 3 Mod Manager to download them? Also, I've been having issues with tue Genasi hair not moving with the characters and messed up faces, as well as the kuo-toa clothing not mapping correctly onto the character. How can I fix these issues? Thanks!

hey, dunno if anybody can help me but basically i had all my mods in (whitch i started w/ my save, i have all mods installed from since starting my save) and i now get stuck on a inf loading screen and a bunch of exclamation marks by my save that says i dont have certain mods installed or all my mods are disabled. if i go further than that i get a inf loading screen on 75%. ive tried straight up deleting mod manager + all links to it, but it still shows up as the same, and some tabs in the game (load game, new game, ect.) are even labeled as 'not found' ive tried starting a new save and trying to use mods there by reinstalling mod manager but even then the mods arent there so that leads me to think that my mod manager isnt even connected to Bg3??? ive downloaded all updates for my mods, deleted some that havnt been updated for patch 7, ect. gone in with just one mod, and it still wont connect. I have all the paths connected thru settings on my mod manager, followed everything he said in the video, and it still just straight up wont work. can anybody help?

i followed these steps and it worked. I stopped playing then came back on. Now it won't load my save or let me make a new one. Even if I switch off all external mods T^T

Hmmm that’s strange. Is there any mods that weren’t updated for patch 7? That could be causing the issues. I know 5e spells is a popular one not updated yet. It should let you access your saves still, hmm. Maybe try restarting the computer as some mods may require that (it’s rare) and see if that can fix it. Or reinstalling BG3 if the issue persists

Hey. That's a very nice tutotial, thank you very much. Until now I installed manually or via Nexus Mod Manager. All of the mods worked perfectly, until yesterday. Now there is a warning: "unable to start game because of third party mods". Can anybody tell me why? Sorry because of my bad English, I'm not a native speaker. I tried to delete the game completely and re-install and re-modded, but there's the same notification. I really don't know what to do now ... Until yesterday all worked perfectly but know nothings works. Can anybody help, please?

You should be able to just ignore the warning, the third party mods just means they are from Nexus

Unfortunately, BG3 get started normally but if a want to start a new game in BG3, then the notification comes: "unable to start, eventually a third party mod is the cause". At the mod-description on the Nexus Website is a information, that one of the multiple mods isn't modified for Patch 7. Because I changed nothing in my mods and just wanted to start a new game. 3 days ago everything worked fine but suddenly 2 days ago there came this notification after choosing the game difficulty level (explore, balanced, tactical, honour, custom). Then it crashed. I assume that the Nexus mod "recruit any npc - transform npc into playable character - make full custom character party - no party limit" is the cause. Still wondering why it suddenly stopped working, because Patch 7 came out in September and this mod worked until 3 days ago. But I changed nothing during the last days. I'm really sad because this was my favorite mod that made a lot of fun. I was able to click on any npc in the game and that triggered the character creation window (change race, gender, class, appearance, ...) for a new fully customized companion. That was amazing. Honestly, I would pay for being able to use this mod again ...😅

Hmmm is there mods that are from patch 6 in your mod folder? Is the mod manager on the same drive as your game is installed? Couple troubleshoots for you

i just go to file and import mod, select the zip file and it adds to the list. no need to extract or drag and drop.

Try using the Script Extender Console Enabler, it might point to a mod/file having an issue. In the beginning of my playthrough the game was stuttering and lagging and I wasn't able to click on anything, and the console showed it was an issue with the volition cabinent and AV Item shipment framework (I removed both and now the game runs fine so far).
