The Chopsticks are made with ceramic. It is strong and chip-resistant. So unless you drop them on a hard surface or break them on purpose- they are "buy it for life". I hope these chopsticks are enjoyed by you and your family for many, many years...

Thanks for the tutorial, Mandy. My grandma taught me how to use chopsticks since I was a kid. Even though I'm Vietnamese descendant, I have the most beautiful set of wood Japanese chopsticks that I like to pull out once in a while and brag about them because they're gorgeous.

I LOVE your videos, ma'am! You help me to not fear making my own Chinese food! As an American, with VERY little Far East heritage, I have never believed I could cook Chinese food. I even struggled with simple stir fry and rice dishes. They never seemed to turn out right. Eventually, I stopped making them. But then I started watching your videos and I could see where I was going wrong! I LOVE your comprehensive, step-by-step demonstration of how to cook Chinese food, your links you provide so I can get the exact ingredients that you use, and your attention to different potential dietary needs of your viewers! Now, some of the recipes I can't use, but that's just because I live in a NYC apartment and municipal law prevents me from owning an outdoor grill. But, you are great! I appreciate all the time and effort you put in to help your viewers! And you have a great sense of humor! 👍😊 Many thanks for all you do!

@@JeffreyTheTaylor Cooking iS easy. It is simply a matter of learning some fundamentals and expanding from there. Tip, if you're just starting with chopsticks... Get some playdough and make little shapes you think will be easy to pick up, put them on a tray and practise while watching TV or whatever. Once you get ok with bigger playdough shapes, make smaller ones, or start using peanuts / whatever. Have fun :)

Thanks Mandy for your Tutorial. I remember my father used to complain that I cannot hold chopsticks properly being an Asian person. Hence, I continually use Spoon and a Fork to this day and still hold chopsticks wrong, thus dropping food all over the place. I'm an Senior Citizen now, LOL, but I'll practice with your Method and hope to make my father proud.

The best comment I ever got was from an owner of a Jiaozi restaurant in my town. He quickly explained the chop stick use almost as accurate as You and then he added: "In our restaurant you can eat however you want. Chopsticks, Spoons, Hands. It doesn't matter. And if you want to Slurp, be welcome to do so. You are here to have a nice, comforting evening with your friends and loved ones. And we do everything to help you with that. Relax and enjoy the food." ... then after leaving the table He returned and added in a hushed voide: "Aside from that, training helps. Just keep on using them and you will get it." xD

That could be the subject for an entire video, as there are many "do's and don'ts" to chopstick ediquette. There simply wasn't room for that within the scope of this video, however. It's a good idea for a future video, however. 👍

I don't think there are any faux pas in chopsticks in the Chinese culture. I think for most westerners, the hang up is that we'll use the same chopstick to bring food to your plate to tell you to eat more. That is apparently a big no-no. It grosses people out but it is completely normal in Chinese culture and we don't even think about it. Only thing I've come across is don't leave your chopstick sticking up straight from the food bowl but not once did my parents tell me not to do that.

I really appreciated this video because I've never used chopped sticks but from various countless videos I've always noticed that the " bowl" was bought up to the mouth as you demonstrated and the sticks then were used to scoop up the rice, now I feel much more confident in using the beautiful chop sticks I've purchased, thanks again!

Ohhh holding that first one secure like that is what I was missing! I've used them for a long time but I never learned how you're meant to do it, and sometimes I don't have complete control and the tips can slip past each other. This feels a lot better and I'll give it a go next time! For anyone who hasn't used chopsticks, they're great and just perfect for a lot of foods, picking stuff up gives you a lot of control. Definitely versatile for cooking too!

I learned how to use chopsticks from the little pictures on the coverings of the chopsticks. Probably 60 years ago. I thought a lot of Chinese food had a sauce to help you pick up the rice. I agree with another comment asking about chopstick etiquette. I have always wondered if I was embarrassing myself or anyone else when I used them.
